Hello families,

I hope this works!  I had redone my plans for
March and just noticed that they never went through!
So sorry!  We had such a wonderful month celebrating
St. Patrick's Day, Holi Day (a fantastic celebration of
Spring in India), new and inventive instrument games,
we learned the history of theatre, and so, so much more.

OK, so what's happening in April?

K-4
The children will be so excited to celebrate singing and dancing
to the new "High School Musical 3" tune.
Objectives...
1.  Sing a song about graduating from High School
2.  Perform rhythms on instruments and body percussion


K-4
Using instruments is one of my students favorite activities!
 "Happiness"  (from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown)
Objectives...
1.  Sing a song alone and with others
2.  Understand relationships between music, the other arts, and 
disciplines outside the arts
3.  Read quarter-note triplet, eighth rest
4.  Perform on instrumetns

1.  Dance to moves from the past and create new ones
    (the pony, the swim, the monkey, the locomotion,
     the surf, the paddy cake handshake)

"We Can-Can Be Healthy Kids"

1.  Perform gross motor movements on the eat
2.  Memorize choreography
3.  Recognize quarter notes and eighth notes
4.  Patterns such as Ta, ti-ti to learn the above
5.  Discuss the importance of exercise and good health

"The Giant and the Flea"

1.  Discuss how two unlikely specimens can come
together and make music,each singing their own
little tune.
2.  Learn syncopation in a song

"Missy-La, Massa-La"

1.  Sing, move to a song
2.  Review syncopation 
3.  Play a game to a song
4.  Discuss Carribean culture in music

"Zydeco"
Objectives...
1.  Learn the culture of zydeco music from Lousiana.
2.  Express yourselve with body percussion and percussion instruments.
3.  Play the tambourine, the bono drum, the bass drum, the soprano
xylophone, alto xylophone, bass xylophone

"Learning to Play the guitar"
*Last month, the students progressed immensely!
They now know how to play and read a D and A chord.
They just learned a basic 4/4 meter strum...DD UU DU
Also, the students know the natural musical alphabet and
can name the notes on each fret and string of the guitar.
Objectives...
1.  To learn new chords to play a song.."Let It Be"

Rehearsing for our 8th grade play performance, 
"Rafunzel"
Objectives...
1.  To completer our playbill
2.  To learn all lines
3.  To plan the cast party
4.  To complete the task of prop and costume design
5.  To build our set
6.  To get the best out of each student to ensure confidence
on stage


Choral
We have learned all our songs for the 8th grade play.
We are working on perfecting the choreography and expression.
It's been so much fun!!!!

God's Voice
Just worked on the next 1st Friday Mass Song, 
"Open My Eyes"

Well,  there you go!!!!
