As we go through this time of change, let us pray for guidance and
stability in the months ahead.
In Religion, we are continuing to learn about the Cardinal and
Theological Virtues. We will also be learning a new prayer, The Angelus,
starting this week.
In Science, we are continuing with our last unit- oceans. One of the
exciting things we will be learning about is the Mariana Trench, and we will
also be doing fun activities and labs. This week, the students will be
learning about the structure of the ocean floor, and they will begin to learn
about the Mariana Trench.
In Social Studies, we are concluding our unit on the Civil War. The
students will have their debate as part of their assessment for this unit, so
there will be no paper and pencil test. Later this week, we will be learning
about the branches of government in Pennsylvania.
In Math, we are beginning our last unit, geometry and measurement. Each
student will create a "Geometry Dictionary", in which they will write
definitions, examples, and diagrams of different geometric terms. They will
then apply what they have learned to their "city". This city will have to be
drawn using different geometric shapes and types of lines, and each student
will be responsible for identifying the shapes and lines and measuring them.
The students also complete a Problem of the Day each day to help practice
their problem solving skills.
In ELA we are learning about prepositional phrases. The students are
also beginning a new writing piece- narratives. Each student will write a
narrative on the topic of their choice. They will be including dialogue and
are focusing on including a lot of detail. We have also read our
story, "Encyclopedia Brown". The Reading and Spelling tests will be Friday.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the hard work of the students, and don't
forget to ask for those Parent Journals over the weekend!
**I forgot to add tissues and antibacterial wipes to the supply list, so if
you have not sent any in, I would appreciate it if you would do so. For
those of you who have sent them in, thank you!
