Monday, October 19, 2009.

I will check on your Fever 1793 Worksheets. All questions up to chapter 14 should be completed.This will count as a grade. Please remember that all homework counts as a grade.

While you are reading your novel, we will go over the various literary terms in reference to literature. Homework assignment: please make sure you have completed all the questions up to chapter 20 by Thursday.

I do hope you are reading your novel and completing the questions for your worksheet. We will continue what we did yesterday. (Literary Terms) Homework: read up to chapter 20.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

For the entire class you will read and work on your worksheets concerning your novel. Make sure you get up to chapter 20 and make sure yourt questions are answered.

Friday: there will be a test on your literary terms. (check out your typed notes). I will ask you questions about these terms and ask you how these terms relate to your novel. For example: King George is Grandfather's parrot. You just learned something about a person in the novel. This would be considered a part of the story's exposition ( to be exact, it would be a part of characterization).

1. Well, everyone should be up to chapter 20 of your novel and the worksheet questions answered up to chapter 20.

2. We will finish up our work on literary terms (study your typed out notes )

Friday, October 23, 2009.

Test on literary terms and how they relate to your novel. There will be 21 questions. All questions will be multiple choice.

Monday, October 26th, 2009.

1. Attention NOVEL WORKSHEETS : by Tuesday, all questions up to chapter 26 are to be completed.

2. Novel Vocabulary worksheets. You received these worksheets (3 pages) on Friday. We will review your work today. Make sure all work is completed before you come to class for a homework grade.

3. Distribution of novel worksheets on CHARACTERS.. This work is to be completed for Thursday's class.

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009.

We will finish up on any vocabulary that we did not complete.

Are your chapter questions completed? I hope so. I will check for a homework grade.

We will work on literary terms. We will review the following: Irony-verbal irony-dramatic irony-suspense-subject of a story-foreshadowing-flashback-protagonist-antagonist-Imaginative Language which includes tone, mood, allusion and a few others. These terms are already defined on your LITERARY TERMS PAPERS...................................................

We will continue our review of the characters in ther novel. We will also start to review the major points of the novel.

Are you doing your Vocabulary work? This work is due Friday. Don't forget that each student will be asked to read aloud in class. This little exercise will begin Monday.

We will continue to work on writing an essay. Make sure you have your set of notes concerning this topic. Make sure you also have your typed notes on the 25 Commandments of Writing.

We will continue doing various exercises to support your writing a fantastic essay.

How is your vocabulary work doing? ( Lesson # 2. )

By the way, Thursday is a special day at Little Flower. It seems that the 8th graders will be visiting Little Flower. Don't forget to tell them about your great school. Even if they did not register to come to Little Flower during the day, why not give them a personal invitation to visit your school Thursday night?I'll be in my classroom and working the TV studio that night. Tell them to come to my room and introduce themselves to me. I would very much like to meet your friends and explain why Little Flower is a great high school.

     We will go over them after we take a very brief test on them. We will then review them.

     Essay to be in MLA format, 12 font, Times-Roman style, double space. Essay due Monday, December 8th. 2009.  Essay worth 50 points. Each day late - Minus 5 points.
