Hello,

My name is Roylin Petties. I am a lifelong resident of Midland. I 
am very excited to be working with you and your child this year. I am a 
recent graduate of Slippery Rock University.
          I plan to have a fun and exciting year with your child. I will 
presenting them with many different challenges, but I feel that with your 
encouragement and help we will have a very successful year!!! The goal of my 
courses are to challenge the students to be engaged in the world  around 
them. Although I am teaching history, we as a class will have Current Event 
days on Fridays.This will help the students to be engaged with the news, 
newspapers, and internet. They will be able to pick topics and we will 
discuss the issues on Fridays.
          It is not my goal to just "teach" your child, but it is my goal to 
get your child thinking beyond the four walls of my classroom, and the town 
of Midland. Another goal is to help the students realize that we are all 
interconnected in some form. I believe that history helps us realize that we 
truly are dependent upon the past to help us make a brighter future.
