READING UNIT 3 INQUIRY PROJECT
In the unit inquiry project, the student chooses an animal and asks a
question about its behavior, then does the research on it. Print or online
resources are used to find the answer to their questions on a specific animal.

The timetable is to help them spread out their research over 4 weeks and in
the 5th week put it all together in a written report. This is a way of
helping them learn to use their time wisely when doing a report and not leave
it to the night before it's due.

Unit 3 Inquiry Project Timetable

Week 1 - Identify Questions
Choose an animal and browse a few websites or print reference
materials to develop an inquiry question about its behavior.
Consider migratory patterns, hibernation cycles, physical
              transformations, or parenting behaviors.

Week 2 - Navigate/Search
Conduct effective information searches and look for text and
images that will help answer the inquiry question.

Week 3 - Analyze
Explore Websites or print materials. Analyze the information
to determine whether or not it is useful. Print or takes notes
              on valid information.

Week 4 - Synthesize
Combine relevant information collected from different sources
to develop answers for the inquiry question.

Week 5 - Communicate
Write a short report on the animal’s behavioral pattern.
	   Include a Bibliography.
