HOMEWORK POLICY
Written and/or studied homework is usually assigned nightly. It is expected
that assignments will be complete and ready when you arrive in class.
Homework reinforces what you have learned in class. If you experience
difficulty with your homework, you should see me in the morning BEFORE
school, so I can help you or arrange a time to do so. Only then will, "I
didn't understand it" be an acceptable excuse for missing and/or incomplete
homework.
If you are absent for any reason, you are to make up all assignments in a
timely fashion. If you have missed a new lesson, you need to arrange a
mutually agreeable time with me for a make up lesson.
Each student begins the marking period with a score of "100" for homework.
The first three misses collectively each trimester will merit only a one
point penalty. After that, missing and incomplete assignments will incur the
following penalties.
Missing Homework - 5 Points
Incomplete Homework - 3 Points
Incomplete/Late Maintenance Sheet - 3 Points
At the end of each marking period, these points are totaled and subtracted
from 100 to achieve a homework grade.
MAINTENANCE SHEET POLICY
Maintenance sheets are assigned weekly, and are graded and averaged
separately. If a maintenance sheet is incomplete or forgotten, you will
receive a 3 point homework deduction and be allowed a one-day grace period to
hand it in. If the sheet is not turned in, a demerit will be issued and a
zero grade may be received for that sheet. In the case of absence, the
maintenance sheet should be turned in soon after the student returns to
school.
At the end of each trimester, maintenance sheets are averaged. This grade
counts as a major assessment for each trimester.
PLEASE NOTE: HOMEWORK AND MAINTENANCE SHEETS ARE RUNNING AVERAGES THAT WILL
BE UPDATED PERIODICALLY ON GRADE BOOK THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER. ALSO, BECAUSE
GRADES ARE POSTED ON GRADE BOOK, SIGNATURES ON ASSESSMENTS WILL NOT BE
REQUIRED. STUDENTS WILL REVIEW ASSESSMENTS IN CLASS, AND THEY WILL BE KEPT
IN SCHOOL. PARENTS MAY REQUEST TO SEE ASSESSMENTS AT ANY TIME.
