This is my 34th year of teaching at North Allegheny and I am looking forward
to meeting my new students this fall.
Recreational Interests/Sports
I am a avid runner and cyclist. I can usually be found running or
cycling around North Park lake. I also compete in numerous 5k and 10k races
in the area. Saturday mornings I can usually be found at North Park running
10 or 15 miles with the "Hot Harry's" running club or taking a 60 mile ride
on my road bike. I'm training for the Pittsburgh
Marathon in May.
Professional Development
I attended the Center for Civic Education's We the People Program in
Washington, DC. this past summer. I am the Western Pennsylvania
coordinator for the We the People Program, a federally
funded program on the history and principles of the Constitution and Bill of
rights for grades 4-12.
I have also been invited to participate as a trainer for a related program,
Project Citizen. This is a civic education program designed to foster the
development of students’ interest and ability to
participate in state and local government at the middle and high school
grades. The Project Citizen Coordinator conference will be held in
Washington, D.C. this fall.
I attended the Constitutinal Rights Foundation Professional Development
Institute in Santa Monica, California to learn
about civics and government lessons and Best Practices in Law
Related Education.
In the past I was on the staff of the Pennsylvania
Governor's School for the Social Studies at Johnstown and
Gettysburg.
