Homework

Students should be bringing home their" Book in a Bag" every day.
Students should read the book, have an adult sign the paper,
and return the bag and it's contents back to school. These are
books that each child can read aloud or by themselves easily as
they are on their individual reading level. If you have any questions, please see me.

Spelling tests will be given on Fridays. Spelling lists should come
home with the students on Monday. The list is also written in your
child's agenda for the week. Another option is to see the list under this
web page under "Spelling List". Students should practice these words as
needed for the test on Friday.

Student's reading books normally will come home on Monday and Wednesday.
The students are to reread the story of the week. Students are to return the
books each day.

I strongly encourage students to read and do basic math facts for 10
minutes each day. It's best for the child to read something they enjoy
reading. Try writing notes back and forth to one another, read the
newspaper, sports page, signs, etc. For math, say them orally in the car,
write down 10-20 and see how fast your child can solve the problems. This
will make a HUGE difference in the student's ability to read and do math more
successfully.

I will send home homework if a child does not finish the work in school. As
the year progresses, more homework will be given to get ready for third grade.
