When is Mrs. Wright available to meet with parents to discuss concerns,etc? I am available to meet every morning at 7:30 am and most days right after school. Please send in a note and I will be happy to set up a meeting time! Morning Meeting is a daily routine we practice in Second Grade where we gather together as a classroom community to greet one another, share and respond to different topics, and look forward to the day's events. Morning Meeting provides six key tools and benefits to the 2nd graders: Builds community Increases student confidence Improves student reading, writing, listening and speaking skills Provides a meaningful context for learning skills Encourages cooperation Gives students daily practice in respectful communication Tests are generally given Friday mornings. However, tests are also given at the end of a unit which may be in the middle of the week. The students will be given plenty of notice to prepare for a test beforehand. Remember: Quizzes may be given at any time without notice. When will my child take home Traveling Ted for a weekend visit? Traveling Ted looks for students who do a good job during the week and will choose one child to visit on Thursday. Ted will come home with tha child for the weekend on Friday afternoon. Does my child need to make up work when they are absent? Yes. It is very important that children make up all missed classwork and homework if they are absent. I will give students adequate time to do this but it is their responsibility to take home the books they need to complete the assignments. When is Terra Nova Testing for Grade 2? Terra Nova testing for the primary grades is usually done in March. Information will be sent home before the actual testing week. |
