I have been studying some Italian over the summer and thought I would share some of what I have learned with the students.  I think it is a great way to encourage children to learn a new language! And since Our Lady of Consolation is an Italian parish I thought it was a good fit too!!

 Basic Italian Phrases

Per favore.          Please.

 

Grazie.                Thank you.

 

Prego.                 You're welcome.

 

Mi scusi.              Excuse me.

 

Mi dispiace.          I am sorry.

 

Buon giorno.         Good morning.

 

Buona sera.           Good evening.

 

Buona notte.         Good night.

 

Meeting and Greeting Phrases

 

Parla inglese?                                                Do you speak English?

 

Come sta?                                                    How are you?

 

Sto bene, grazie.                                           I'm fine, thank you.

 

Come si chiama, Lei?                                   What is your name?

 

Mi chiamo Laura.                                         My name is Laura.
