This Week

 

Week of February 3rd.


Preschool started learning body parts, we sang some songs and play El Juego de Chirimbolo, each student have a partner  and they will follow to my instructions to touch the body parts I indicate.


Kindergarten reviewed family members. We talked about how many people in our families. Other students had the opportunity to represent the book " Tres Osos"


First Grade reviewed body parts. They created a monster in their copybooks, with many heads, eyes, etc. We played El Juego de Chirimbolo.


Second Grade reviewed food vocabulary. Students worked on a worksheet in class. We watched the video/Song "Ay Las Frutas" They prepared a bingo card to play next week.


Third Grade practiced the skit "Los Tres Cerditos"


Fourth Grade did not have class.


Fifth Grade worked on page 58 activity 13. We reviewed definite and indefinite articles, and worked on activities 17 and 18. We reviewed the word order when making sentences, and we practiced with activities 19 y 21. Students worked on the Guided Practice 1 B3 and 1B4.


Sixth Grade took a vocabulary recognition quiz. Students worked on activities 4 - 6 and 8. They had some time to practice the skit.

Eight Grade reviewed the uses of "Tener" and learned about "Tener que" They completed some worksheets in class to practice.

 


Week of January 25th.

Fifth Grade worked on a writing activity describing themselves and a classmate. They did a great job.


Sixth Grade reviewed vocabulary for Chapter 4B ¿Quieres ir conmigo?. We watched the videohistoria, and I checked for comprehension by asking the students some questions.

Week of January 18th.


Preschool reviewed food and expressions related to it. (pan, leche, queso, jugo, pollo and ensalada). Me gusta / No me gusta (I like / I don't like). Tengo hambre.... I am hungry, tengo sed......I am thirsty, quiero....I want. We played the Bridge game, they love it!


Kindergarten started learning about family members. We red the book "Tres Osos", Spanish version of Goldilocks and the three bears.


First Grade took a clothing quiz, and we played bingo with the Bingo games they created last week. Next week we will start learning body parts.


Second Grade reviewed food items we learned last week. I introduced new vocabulary, students now know a variety of fruits and vegetables.


Third Grade reviewed animals (pets and farm animals). We started working in our skit " Los Tres Cerditos" / "Three Little Pigs".


Fourth Grade reviewed days of the week and learned earned months of the year and seasons. We play a Calendar Bingo.


Fifth Grade kept working on chapter 1B page 54 activities 5,6,8,10 and 11. We played Charades with adjectives and Around the World.


Sixth Grade received the handout with Chapter 4B ¿Quieres ir conmigo?. I met with students to go over the skit La Avena specially pronunciation. They all had the chance, now we have to practice, practice, practice......

Eight Grade took a quiz on Ser/Estar. We reviewed Tener, when to use it, and how to conjugate it. We worked on the Skit ¿Qué hay en tu clase?

Kindergarten reviewed food (Queso - papa - ensalada - leche - jugo - pan - pollo - agua).We reviewed also how to express if they are hungry or thirsty, and how to express like and dislike. We played freeze dance with the song "Tengo Hambre". Also, we did other songs/games.


First Grade reviewed clothing from previous week. Students started preparing a bingo card to play bingo next week.


Second Grade took a quiz on clothing. We started learning about food using a worksheet called "A Square Meal"


Third Grade took a quiz on body parts. We started learning about animals, pets and farm animals. We watched some animals videos.


Fourth Grade started on days of the week. They learned how to ask for the date (fecha), what day is today?, what day is tomorrow?, and what day was yesterday?. They learned that is Hispanic countries the first day of the week is Monday (lunes).


Fifth Grade took a vocabulary quiz. They worked on a worksheet Core Practice 1B4 in class, we reviewed some grammar rules (adjectives, articles, nouns). We did some practice in class.


Sixth Grade took a quiz on interrogative words, and we read Berto y sus buenas ideas chapter 2. They had some time to practice their skits. I sat with some groups to go over pronunciation, i will continue with the rest next week.


Seventh Graders took a quiz on interrogative words, and we read Pobre Ana chapter 2. They practiced the skit.


Eight Grade I reviewed answers for the test they took last week. We started the verb Tener (To have). They worked on some worksheets in class to practice conjugation.

Third Grade reviewed body parts. We watched and sang Las Partes del cuerpo, and other related songs to body parts. The students started preparing a bingo card.


Fourth Grade had a quiz on numbers from 0 to 100. We read Las Aventuras the Isabela chapter 3 and the students completed a questionnaire in class.


Fifth Grade reviewed vocabulary and pronunciation using Study Stack. We worked on pages 50 and 51, and did activity 2 ¿Cierto o falso?. The students watched the videohistoria, and some students represented the characters for a better understanding of the story. We talked about Cognates (words that are very similar in English and Spanish). We worked on the activitie 3 ¿Comprendes?


Sixth Grade started learning about interrogative words in Spanish, the watched a video that explains when the question words should be used. We did a guided practice in class. Also, the students learned how to write sentences in a correct order. We had some time to practice the skit.

Preschool reviewed shapes (círculo, cuadrado, rectángulo, triángulo, óvalo). We read a minibook called Paseo de Figuras (Shapes Walk). We sang some songs, and played games.


Kindergarten started learning about food (Queso - papa - ensalada - leche - jugo - pan - pollo). They will learned how to express if they are hungry or thirsty. Also, they will be able to express like and dislike.


First Grade took a quiz on food. We read a book in class Lunch Box surprise.


Second Grade started learning clothes vocabulary. They watched some videos about clothes. They will learn how to express what clothes we should use depending on places we go and how is the weather.


Third Grade started learning how Spanish nouns are different from English nouns.... In Spanish nouns are either masculine or feminine and the students are learning how to recognize them


Fourth Grade Reviewed numbers from 0 to 60. They practiced their skit.


Fifth Grade Took a quiz on negatives. We read Carl No quiere ir a Mexico chapter 2. In groups the worked on a questionnaire about the chapter.


Sixth Grade took a quiz on vocabulary in context and Sentences expressing where do you go? to do what? with whom?. We worked on the Verb Ir (to go) and how to conjugate it. Students worked in a guided practice in class and we also reviewed answers. We listen to the Song ¿A Dónde vas?.

Kindergarten reviewed shapes (círculo, cuadrado, rectángulo, triángulo, diamante, óvalo, diamante, estrella, octágono). We sang some songs, and they created beautiful pictures using shapes.

Second Grade took a quiz on classroom objects, they played bingo to review vocabulary.


Third Grade started learning about Spanish pronouns (how do we say I - You - She - He - We - They in Spansih?). Also, the learned that You in Spanish has 2 different forms Tu and Usted. We practice in class classifying people as they should treated in the Spanish world.


Fourth Grade shared with me the name of their Spanish Restaurant. They practiced their skit.


Fifth Grade reviewed the chapter vocabulary. We also reviewed the ending of regular verbs. Students worked on negatives (how to express dislike). They completed a worksheet in class to practice.


Sixth Grade took a vocabulary test. We did activities 4, 5, 6 and 8.


Seventh Graders took a vocabulary test. We did activities 4, 5, 6 and 8.


Eight Grade started learning Ser vs. Estar (To Be). When to use each one, how to conjugate them. We did some practice in class.


 



Week of November 16th.

Kindergarten reviewed shapes (círculo, cuadrado, rectángulo, triángulo, diamante, óvalo, diamante, estrella, octágono). We sang some songs, and read a book called Mouse Shapes / Figuras de Ratón


First Grade reviewed  food vocabulary , we did a listening practice in class. We watched some food related videos.


Second Grade reviewed classroom objects, they learned how to express "I have" in Spanish "Yo tengo" . The students practice by finding an school object in their desk and telling the class what they had. We played bingo to review vocabulary.


Third Graders had a months of the year and seasons quiz . We read "El Mundo de Felipe" Chapter 2. We played some games.


Fourth Graders had the opportunity to check some menu samples. They received a copy with several sites would help them research their assigned country. Students received the script for the restaurant skit they will be working this year. We started practicing already.


Fifth Graders had the 3rd quiz for the chapter "Mis Amigos y Yo". We spent most part of the period on website called StudyStack.com. It is a great site to practice vocabulary with electronic flash cards, and many different gamed that will keep engaged. We listened, sang and danced to the Song Mambo to review activities we like and don't like to do.


Sixth Graders reviewed the chapter vocabulary in class using studystack.com. It is a great site to practice vocabulary using electronic flash cards and games that will keep them motivated. We worked on activities 1 and 2 from the book. Also, we watched the Videohistoria. The skit's script was given to the students, also the groups and characters were assigned. They started practicing.

Third Graders reviewed months of the year and learning seasons and what months belong to each season. They are able to tell when is their birthday in Spanish. Also, the copied the Spanish lyrics for the Happy Birthday. We watched some videos and played a memory game.


Fourth Graders had a quiz on food vocabulary. Some students presented their skits. We read Las Aventuras de Isabela chapter 2, and worked on a questionnaire. We discussed all about the Restaurant Menu they will create, and it is due for the 3rd trimester.


Fifth Graders had the 2nd quiz for the chapter "Mis Amigos y Yo". We kept practicing about activities we like and we don't like to do, as well as, how to agree or disagree when talking to friends about activities they like and don't like. They learned how to classify Spanish Verbs according the ending. They received the specifications for the Special Spanish Project, and they were assigned the Famous Hispanic person they will research.


Sixth Graders took a quiz on verb to be "Ser". The vocabulary for chapter 4A was introduced. They received all the specifications for the Special Spanish Project, and they were assigned with the countries they will research. We had the opportunity to work on the skits, and practice pronunciation.

First Grade took a quiz on Colors, we watched some colors songs videos, and played online games to practice more.


Second Grade had a Days of the week quiz. They started learning about classroom objects.


Third Graders took a numbers quiz. They started learning months of the year. We watched some Meses del año videos.


Fourth Graders had a quiz on food vocabulary. Also, we worked on new skit, some students had the chance to present to the class, the others will have the opportunity next week.

Preschool reviewed colors, learned some Halloween vocabulary in Spanish, watched some videos. Also, we read Five Little Pumpkins in Spanish.

First Grade reviewed colors, learned some Halloween vocabulary and we watched several Halloween videos in Spanish.


Second Grade reviewed days of the week, learned some Halloween vocabulary and we watched several Halloween videos in Spanish.


Third Graders reviewed the numbers from 0-40,  and learned from 41 to 60. They worked on a handout in class to practice writing the numbers. We played Bingo!


Fourth Graders started learning about food vocabulary. Also, we worked on how to order food and drinks in a restaurant. The students practiced and presented a mini skit.


Fifth Graders started a new chapter " Mis Amigos y Yo" - ¿Qué te gusta hacer?. I introduce all the vocabulary they need to know to be able to work in class for the next weeks. They will be learning about activities they like and don't like to do.

Fourth Graders had a quiz on Classroom Objects and plural of nouns. We read Las Aventuras de Isabela chapter 1. We worked together in class on a questionnaire related to the book.


Fifth Graders took a quiz on classroom objects, calendar and weather. We read the book Carl no quiere ir a Mexico chapter 1. Students started working on a questionnaire in class related to the book. We will finish it next class.

First Grade reviewed the numbers from 0 to 20. We watched a video and played bingo.


Second Grade reviewed the numbers 1 to 20. We did a dictation exercise. They learned numbers from 20 to 40. We [alyed bingo.


Third Graders reviewed the Spanish Alphabet. The students kept working on the alphabet handout finding words from the letters N - Z. We played bingo.


Fourth Graders had a quiz on Classroom Objects. They learned about the plural of nouns. We played bingo.


Fifth Graders learned about the calendar and the weather.


Sixth Graders reviewed what we they have learned on chapter "Para mantener la salud". Students worked on several activities to practice giving advice to keep your health. Also, they learned about adjectives and plurals.

We watched a videohistoria and checked for comprehension. Students worked on several activities to practice preference and to indicate if a particular food or drink is healthy or not.

Preschool started learning numbers from 0 to 10, we sang many songs, we danced and we count many times. We even read a book about numbers.


Kindergarten reviewed Spanish greetings and feelings. We also started the numbers unit. We count from 0 to 10, we read a numbers book. We danced, we sang and we played Latin American style.


First Grade reviewed Spanish greetings and feelings. I introduced the numbers from 0 to 10. They completed a worksheet in class, and we played Memoria (matching game).


Second Grade reviewed the greeting vocabulary and polite words. We worked on some handouts in class to review vocabulary.


Third Graders learned the Spanish Alphabet, we went over how the letters sound in Spanish. We watched a video " Orale el Alfabeto.


Fourth Graders reviewed all greetings, basic expressions and polite words use in Spanish. They created  and presented a Spanish dialogues in class.


Fifth Graders worked on REALIDADES, we worked on numbers up to a thousand. Also, we learned about the time in Spanish and reviewed body parts.


Sixth Graders learned vocabulary used for recipes, we discussed different recipes in class. We even translated a Churro Recipe from English into Spanish.

Eight Graders started with numbers. We went over the numbers from 0 to a Million. They completed activities C and D in class. We worked in class writing numbers in Spanish. Also, we learned Ordinal numbers, and completed a handout in class.

 

 


Week of September 14th.

 

Preschool had Spanish for the first time this week. It was VERY FUN! We sang Good Morning and the class rules in Spanish. They learned how to say hello, good bye, and respond ¿Cómo te llamas?(What is your name?), me llamo.....We sang and dance, and we even have time to play a game.


Kindergarten started by learning how to greet in Spanish, we introduced ourselves. We sang, dance, and learned how to express our feelings in Spanish.

Fourth Graders reviewed all greetings, basic expressions and polite words use in Spanish. We introduced ourselves and they also practiced how to express their age in Spanish. They will choose a SPANISH NAME from a list, they looked very excited about having a different name! They started working on a handout in class to review greetings.


Fifth Graders started a new Spanish journey with a new book called REALIDADES, We began with a review chapter called " Para Empezar ", the class practiced how to greet each other in Spanish,We did several activities from the book that included reading, listening, comprehension and talking. We learned how to say the time in Spanish and also review numbers up to 100, and learned up to a 1,000.


Sixth Graders reviewed chapter 3A ¿Desayuno o Almuerzo?. we checked vocabulary, main verbs, and how to express like and dislike. We focused this week on fruit and vegetable from the Hispanic world that are becoming popular in the United States. We learned about some Spanish recipes.

Eight Graders started the class by reviewing polite words, greetings, feelings,and farewells. Also, we reviewed the difference between Tú and Usted. They practiced about introducing themselves and meeting others. We practice conversation in Spanish using different dialogues, and they made up their own conversations working with a partner.
