This Week


Week of December 8th.


Preschool reviewed shapes (círculo - cuadrado - rectángulo - triángulo - óvalo), we read Shape Walk (Paseo de Figuras) . We sang and danced ¡Hola Amigos! , Con Cosmos.They had a lot of fun :)


Kindergarten started learning about food (queso - jugo - leche - pollo - pan - ensalada - papa). We read a book " A mi abuela le gusta cocinar". We played some games.


First Grade reviewed clothes vocabulary / La Ropa (pantalones - gorro(a) - camisa - zapatos - vestido - calcetines/medias - chaqueta - botas - mochila) and introduced new words (chaqueta - abrigo - falda - guantes - pantalones cortos - botas). We sang "Donde Están Mis Botas" ,"Ponte La Camisa ya" and "La Ropa"


Second Grade started learning about clothing "la ropa" . They started making a bingo card.


Third Grade learned about body parts / El cuerpo. We watched some videos, and sang head, shoulders, knees and toes in Spanish.


Fourth Grade had a quiz on numbers (0 to 100). We read Las Aventuras de Isabela chapter 3. They practiced their dialogues.


Fifth Grade had a end of a chapter test. We finished reading Carl No Quiere ir a Mexico chapter 2, and began chapter 3.


Sixth Grade had a end of a chapter test. We finished reading Berto y sus buenas ideas chapter 2, and began chapter 3.


Seventh Grade had a quiz on Adjectives and Personal Pronouns. We read Pobre Ana chapter 3.


Eight Grade
had a quiz on er/ir ending verbs. We read Patricia va a California chapter 4. Students started completing a worksheet in class.

 


 

Week of December 1st.

Kindergarten reviewed shapes (círculo - cuadrado - rectángulo - triángulo - óvalo - diamante - estrella - corazón). The children used their creativity today drawing using different shapes, and presenting it to their classmates telling in Spanish the names of the shapes they used.

Second Grade took a quiz on Los Objetos de La Clase/ Classroom Objects. We played around the world.


Third Grade learned about Gender of nouns and adjectives. In Spanish nouns could be feminine or masculine. They started learning how to recognize them. We played Bingo.


Fourth Grade had a quiz on numbers (0 to 60). They learned from 60 to a 100. We parcticed the skit.


Fifth Grade had a quiz on expressing dislike. We read Carl no quiere ir a Mexico chapter 2.


Sixth Grade had a quiz on expressing dislike. We read Berto y sus buenas ideas chapter 2.


Seventh Grade learned today about subject pronouns. We did a worksheet in class to practice. We reviewed adjectives.


Eight Grade reviewed Er / Ir ending verbs. We watched the video ¿Qué Comes?. We read Patricia va a California chapter 3.


 


Week of November 17th.


Preschool

Kindergarten
reviewed shapes (círculo - cuadrado - rectángulo - triángulo - óvalo - diamante - estrella - corazón), we played a matching game with shapes. We watched a video for a shape song.


First Grade
reviewed food vocabulary. We talked about food that we like, don't like, like a lot or don't like at all . "Me gusta", "No me gusta", "Me gusta mucho" and " No me gusta nada". We color a food minibook.


 
Second Grade reviewed Los Objetos de La Clase/ Classroom Objects (libro, tijeras, ventana, silla, pluma, lápiz, cuaderno, mesa, puerta, escritorio, borrador, papel, regla, salón de clases, bandera, pizarra, and tiza). We played bingo.


Third Grade
learned about the difference between tú and usted (you). The students completed a worksheet classifying different people according to the way you should treat them (formal or informal). We played a bingo game as a review.


Fourth Grade
reviewed numbers from 0 to 60. We practiced the dialogues.


Fifth Grade had a quiz on ar, er and ir ending verbs. We kept reviewing how to express dislike, agreement and disagreement.
 

Sixth Grade

Seventh Grade
we started learning about adjectives in Spanish. We discussed the rules and did some practice in class.


Eight Grade started working on the meaning for regular -er and -ir ending verbs and how to conjugate them.

 


Week of November 10th.

First Grade reviewed food vocabulary by completing a worksheet in class. We learned new food vocabulary (sopa - agua - naranja - carne - plátano/banana - pescado - manzana - sandwich/sanduche). We started a coversation using the expressions "Me gusta", "No me gusta" and "Me gusta mucho". The children told me what they like, don't like and like a lot.

Fourth Grade presented their dialogues. Specifics for the Spanish project were handed. They started working on a skit (Restaurante or Cafetería).


Fifth Grade had a quiz. We still working on activities that you practice and expressing like and dislike.


Sixth Grade had a quiz. We still working on activities that you practice and expressing like and dislike.


Seventh Grade presented their skits (Doce Galletas). We discussed their Spanish project. Most of the students already chose a craft.

Week of November 3rd.


Preschool reviewed the colors (rojo - azul - verde - amarillo - morado - anaranjado), we sang the color song, we sang and danced ¡Hola Amigos!. Also, we played a circle game.


Kindergarten reviewed the colors (rojo - azul - verde - amarillo - morado - anaranjado - negro - blanco - rosado - marrón or café - gris). We sang Colores. We read a book ¿Dónde está Max? and to finish the class  we played Veo Veo (I spy with my little eye).


First Grade started on Food / La Comida, they learned papa, pollo, queso, leche, jugo, pan, and ensalada. We started a coversation using the expressions "Me gusta", "No me gusta" and "Me gusta mucho". The children told me what they like, don't like and like a lot.

Third Grade reviewed Month of the year and Seasons. We watched two videos related to the topic. I got them singing months and seasons with two catchy songs. We played Around the World.


Fourth Grade had a quiz on food and restaurant vocabulary. We read Las Aventuras de Isabela Chapter 3. The students practiced their dialogues.


Fifth Grade 
had a quiz on chapter vocabulary. They continued working on Realidades Capítulo 1 " Mis Amigos y yo". We watched a Videohistoria (students from different countries were sharing what they like and don't like to do. We worked on activities 3 and 5.

Week of October 27th.


Preschool learned Halloween words in Spanish, we reviewed colors and numbers. We sang songs and played some games.


Kindergarten learned Halloween words in Spanish, we reviewed colors and numbers. We also read the poem 5 little pumpkins in Spanish (5 calabazas pequeñas). We played some games.


First Grade took a colors quiz. They learned some Halloween words in Spanish. We reviewed colors and numbers, and we finished by dancing the song "Los Esqueletos"



Second Grade took the days of the week quiz. They learned some Halloween words in Spanish, and we watched "Los Esqueletos" Video.


Third Graders were introduced to the Hispanic Holiday the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos). We read some information about it and we watched a video on vimeo.com


Fourth Graders had a quiz on food. Review food vocabulary and practice a dialogue with a partner.


Fifth Grade
started working on Realidades Capítulo 1 " Mis Amigos y yo". We learned how to express like and dislike (what do you like to do). Also, when talking with somebody what words we use in Spanish to agree or disagree.

Seventh Graders had a quiz on gender of nouns. We learned about Día de Los Muertos through a Power Point Presentation and a video. We practiced the skit "Doce Galletas"


Eight Graders learned about El Día de Los Muertos". They watched a video about how Mexico celebrates the Day of the Dead. We reviewed ar ending verbs meaning. They practiced the skit El Alfabeto.


 

Week of October 20th.


Preschool reviewed the colors (rojo - azul - verde - amarillo - morado - anaranjado), we sang the color song, we sing and danced ¡Hola Amigos! and Con Cosmos. We read a coloring book. We played with a colorful parachute.


Kindergarten reviewed the colors (rojo - azul - verde - amarillo - morado - anaranjado - negro - blanco - rosado - marrón or café - gris). We sang Colores, we read a color book and we played Veo Veo (The I spy with my little eye Spanish version) and also played Pollo, Café or Chocolate.


First Grade reviewed the colors in Spanish. We sang "Colores". The children color a color code sheet and we play "Around the World"



Second Grade reviewed Days of the week (lunes-martes-miércoles-jueves-viernes-sábado-domingo). We sang Días de la semana, and played The Calendar Game. We had some time to do a few rounds of Around the World.


Third Graders had a numbers quiz 0- 60. We started with Month of the year. We sang "Los meses del año". We played around the world.


Fourth Graders started on food and mealtime. We talked about meal habits in Spanish countries.


Fifth Graders
had a quiz on the chapter " Para Empezar". We read "Carl no quiere ir a Mexico" chapter 1.


Sixth Graders had a quiz on the chapter " Para Empezar". We read "Berto y sus buenas ideas" chapter 1.


Seventh Graders reviewed gender, plural of nouns and articles. We went over a study guide and practice using different words. The students complete homework in class to make sure they understand all the grammar before the test next week. We listen to the song "El Cuerpo"


Eight Graders reviewed verbs that end in AR. I introduced new verbs. We listened to the song " En La Clase", and the students filled in the blank the missing words, then we sang the song with the completed lyrics. They completed a worksheet in class. We played charades in teams.

 


Week of October 13th.


Preschool started learning the colors in Spanish (rojo - azul - verde - amarillo - morado - anaranjado), we sang the color song, we sing and danced ¡Hola Amigos! and Con Cosmos. We played with the songs " pollo, café , chocolate" , the favorite is CHOCOLATE!


Kindergarten started learning about the colors (rojo - azul - verde - amarillo - morado - anaranjado - negro - blanco - rosado - marrón/ café - gris). We sang Colores, we read a color book and we even have some time to play pollo, café, chocolate.


First Grade took a quiz on numbers from 0 to 20. They learned the colors in Spanish.


Second Grade had a numbers quiz 0- 40. We started on Days of the Week (lunes-martes-miércoles-jueves-viernes-sábado-domingo). They even learned how to say tomorrow in Spanish "mañana".They will learn a Días de la semana song next week.

worked on REALIDADES, we finished "Para Empezar" now they completed the review before start working on Chapter 1.

Preschool reviewed numbers from 0 to 10, we sang many songs, we danced and we count many times. We played Latin American Style.


Kindergarten reviewed numbers from 0 to 15, I asked them ¿cómo te llamas?, ¿cómo estás? and ¿cuántos años tienes? and most of them responded. We played bingo :)


First Grade reviewed numbers from 0 to 20. We played bingo to review the lesson.


Second Grade had a numbers dictation 0- 20, they all did very well. We studied the numbers from 21 to 40. They prepared a bingo card and we played bingo to review the lesson.


Third Graders reviewed the numbers from 0-40. We watched a video "Cuenta". We started today numbers from 41-60.They watch a Power Point presentation about numbers, we sang "Cuenta"and another number song. To end the lesson we played a number game.


Fourth Graders
had a quiz on class objects. We went over the rules on how to make a noun plural. We did a listening practice
, I dictated a word and the students wrote them in singular and plural. We played Around the World. 

 


Fifth Graders worked on REALIDADES, we reviewed everything about the calendar.

Seventh Graders started practicing a Spanish skit called Doce Galletas.


Eight Graders learned about Hispanic Heritage month, they watched a power point presentation and we discussed about some important contributions Hispanics have made to this country. We did a listening practice with a famous Hispanic song "Mi Tierra" by Gloria Estefan, the students filled in the blank the words they heard. The students started practicing a skit called El Alfabeto.

Kindergarten reviewed numbers from 0 to 10, I introduced from 11 to 15. The children learn how to say their age in Spanish. Tengo ....... años. We danced, we sang and we played Latin American style.


First Grade reviewed numbers from 0 to 10, and I introduced from 11 to 20. We played around the world to review the lesson.



Second Grade started on numbers from 0-20. They prepared a bingo card, and we even have a chance to play.

Fifth Graders worked on REALIDADES, we started learning about the classroom (La Sala de Clases). Also, we reviewed Gender of Nouns. We went over the Spanish alphabet.

They did a great job!

Preschool started learning numbers from 0 to 10, we sang many songs, we danced and we count many times. We even read a book about numbers.

started the numbers unit. We count from 0 to 10, we read a numbers book. We danced, we sang and we played Latin American style.


First Grade
reviewed Spanish greetings and feelings. I introduced the numbers from 0 to 10. They completed a worksheet in class, and we played Memoria (matching game).


 
Second Grade reviewed the greeting vocabulary, polite words, and the times of the day vocabulary. We worked on a worksheet in class and practice talking with a classmate.


Third Graders
reviewed the Spanish Alphabet by checking the homework, we practice the letters sound by singing Orale El Alfabeto. Also, we read El Mundo de Felipe chapter 1. This is a book written in Spanish and the children are doing great!


Fourth Graders
learned the classroom objects vocabulary. They completed a worksheet in class. We played around the world.

 

Fifth Graders  worked on REALIDADES, we began the class with time ¿Qué hora es? / What time is it?, We reviewed body parts. We played Simón Dice....

Eight Graders
did a quick review of numbers from 0 to a million. I introduced the Ordinal Numbers, they completed a 2 handouts in class to practice. We have time to go over the Spanish alphabet. We played Bingo.


 

 

Week of September 15th.



Preschool had Spanish for the first time this week. It was VERY FUN! We sang Good Morning and the class rules in Spanish. They learned how to say hello, good bye, and respond ¿Cómo te llamas?(What is your name?), me llamo.....We sang and dance, and we even have time to play a game.


Kindergarten reviewed Spanish greetings and feelings. We read a book called Margaret and Margarita. We also sang, dance, and play a game.


First Grade reviewed Spanish greetings and feelings. They practiced with a classmate a mini dialogue.



Second Grade reviewed the greeting vocabulary and polite words. I introduced the times of the day vocabulary ( Buenos Días, Buenas Tardes, y Buenas Noches).


Third Graders learned the Spanish Alphabet, we went over how the letters sound in Spanish. Also, they copy a Spanish word for each letter of the alphabet. We watched a video " Orale El Alfabeto.


Fourth Graders reviewed all greetings, basic expressions and polite words use in Spanish. They worked and presented their Spanish dialogues in class.


Fifth Graders  worked on REALIDADES, We began the class by doing Actividad 6 , we worked on commands and numbers. Also, we started learning about the time in Spanish.

Kindergarten started by learning how to greet in Spanish, we introduced ourselves. We read a book, sang, dance, and learned how to express our feelings in Spanish.

Fourth Graders reviewed all greetings, basic expressions and polite words use in Spanish. We introduced ourselves and they also practiced how to express their age in Spanish. They chose a SPANISH NAME from a list, they looked very excited about having a different name!


Fifth Graders started a new Spanish journey with a new book called REALIDADES, We began with a review chapter called " Para Empezar ", the class practiced how to greet each other in Spanish,We did several activities from the book that included reading, listening and comprehension and talking.
