This Week

 

Week of May 18th.


Preschool
reviewed transportation words. We sang " The Wheels on the Bus" in Spanish. Also, we sang a song in Spanish called little boat / barquito chiquitito. We read a book called "Anda Carro Anda". They took a copy home to color.


Kindergarten
No class school trip.


First Grade
No class school trip.


Second Grade
No class school trip.


Third Grade took a quiz on Spanish adjectives. We started learning commands. We read El Mundo de Felipe chapter 5.


Fourth Grade
started learning about family members. I introduced possessive adjectives in Spanish (My - Your - His - Her - Their - Our).


Fifth Grade reviewed er and ir ending verbs meanings and conjugation. We also learned how to express like or dislike for singular and plural nouns. We listened to the song ¿Qué Comes?. Students worked on several activities in class.

Seventh Grade Watched the movie Pobre Ana.


Eight Grade
learned two new verbs Saber and Conocer, both mean To Know. They learned when to use each one. Students worked on two handouts in class. We practiced the skits.

Preschool

reviewed Body Parts. We sang "Mi Cuerpo" and we played El Juego de Chirimbolo, this time the children had the opportunity to be the teacher and call the body parts for the game. They did GREAT!

had a listening practice with the alphabet. We played bingo.

had a quiz on Commands. They started learning about some important Spanish verbs. They learned also how to conjugate the verbs in the Yo form (I).


Third Grade started learning Spanish adjectives.


Fourth Grade
reviewed The Weather.


Fifth Grade had a quiz on the verb Estar. We reviewed the plural of Nouns and Articles. We did some work in class to practice. We listened to one Spanish Presentation.

had a quiz on Dar / To Give. We listened to some Spanish presentations. This time we traveled to Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panamá and Chile.

 had a quiz on Los Animales. They started learning the Spanish Alphabet.

started learning very important commands in Spanish. They would be able to follow directions given in the target language.


Third Grade reviewed plural of nouns, and started learning articles in Spanish THE (El -Los -La - Las) / A-AN / SOME (Un - Unos - Una - Unas)


Fourth Grade
had a quiz on la casa/ la sala / la cocina / el comedor. I introduced new vocabulary for La recámara y El Jardín.


Fifth Grade reviewed La Sala de Clases vocabulary and words to indicate location. Also, reviewed when to use the verb To Be (Estar) and how to conjugate it. Students watched the Videohistoria "Un ratón en la clase". We worked on activities 3, 4 and 6. We listen to some Famous Hispanics presentations.

had a quiz on Tocar / Jugar and Instruments / Sports vocabulary. We listened to some Hispanic Crafts presentations. We read Pobre Ana Chapter 6.

 had a quiz on Querer - Ir - Ir a. We listened to two Travel Agents presentations. We traveled to Peru and Colombia.

 

Week of March 23th.


Preschool
reviewed clothing. We played with a song called "Juguemos en el bosque" We also sang a new song called "Ponte La Camisa Ya". We watched some videos.


Kindergarten
started learning about bodyparts. We played "El Juego de Chirimbolo"


First Grade
reviewed Los Animales. We watched some videos about los animales and we played a memory game.


Second Grade
had a quiz on los adjetivos. We played bingo.


Third Grade presented the skit Los Tres Cerditos. They did an excelent job! :)


Fourth Grade
had a quiz on la casa/ la sala. I introduced new vocabulary for la cocina (kitchen) - el comedor (dining room) - el baño (bathroom). We palyed around the world.


Fifth Grade started learning about La Sala de Clases (classroom objects). Also, they learned about words to indicate location. Lastly, they learned when to use the verb To Be (Estar). Students worked on 2 activities in class.

did some presentations for the Hispanic Project. We worked on sport and instruments vocabulary. They completed a worksheet in class to review jugar and tocar.

reviewed Querer and Ir. Also, they learned how to express activities you plan to do in the future using ir + a . We reviewed homework in class and worked on  several exercises in class to practice.

Week of March 16th.


Preschool
reviewed clothing. We played with a song called "Juguemos en el bosque" We also played A La Vívora De La Mar (Latin American Game).


Kindergarten
reviewed clothing. We played Juguemos en el Bosque, and Ponte La Camisa Ya. Also, using the projector we dressed a boy and a girl. The children chose what they were going to wear....Everything in Spanish!


First Grade
kept working on Los Animales. We wrote the vocabulary in class. We played A La Vivora de La Mar.


Second Grade
reviewed adjectives, the students worked on a handout in class to practice writing sentences with adjectives. They also started writing their own Spanish sentences in their copybooks.


Third Grade worked on a handout to review
La Casa (the house) vocabulary. We started working on plural of nouns. They are creating their own sentences in Spanish.


Fourth Grade
presented their Restaurante / Cafetería skits. They did great! :)


Fifth Grade had a quiz on ar ending verbs. Students started presenting their Famous Hispanic person. We are learning very interesting information.


Sixth Grade
had a quiz on ar ending verbs. We read Berto y sus buenas ideas Capítulo 4. Students completed a some questions in class using the book as a reference.


Seventh Grade
started presenting their Spanish project " Hispanic Craft". They did an excellent job today!

reviewed Las Partes del Cuerpo / Body Parts. We sang and danced body part songs. It is so funny to see them doing the Tu Ti Ta song in Spanish :) We also played A La Vívora De La Mar (Latin American Game).


Kindergarten
started learning La ropa (clothing). We played with a song called "Juguemos en el bosque" it is about a wolf that is getting dress to come out and eat all the kids. They had a lot of fun!


First Grade
reviewed La Familia in Spanish. We played bingo.


Second Grade
reviewed the places in the community. We played bingo.


Third Grade
kept working on the house vocabulary (kitchen, dining room and bathroom). The students practiced the skit for Los 3 cerditos (three little pigs).


Fourth Grade

Fifth Grade had a quiz on Class schedules, vocabulary, school subjects, adjectives and subject pronouns. They started learning ar ending verbs. We did activities 13 and 14.

Seventh Grade learned the verbs Tocar and Jugar, which in English both means To Play. We learned Sports and Instruments vocabulary. We did several examples in class conjugating the verbs.

practiced the skit for Los 3 cerditos (three little pigs). They are doing great...pronunciation is almost perfect.

had a quiz on Definite Articles. I introduced Indefinite Articles, we did several examples in class. We read Las Aventuras de Isabela capítulo 6 (chapter 6). They practiced their skits.

started a Chapter 2A " Tú día en la escuela". They are learning about class schedules, school subjects, school supplies. Also they would be able to describe classes and activities.

reviewed Ser and started learning Estar. We did several worksheets in class to practice.

Fifth Grade worked on a packet to culminate the chapter 1B. We played Charades boys vs. girls.

Preschool reviewed La comida/food, we listened Soy Una Pizza . We sang and played in Spanish.


Kindergarten reviewed about family members. We read the story Los Tres Osos (Goldilock and the three bears). We sang and played Spanish style.


First Grade reviewed body parts. We played El Juego de Chirimbolo.


Second Grade reviewed food learned the previous week, and I introduced some vegetables. We discussed which vegetables we like and we don't like using "me gusta" and "no me gusta"


Third Grade practiced "Los 3 cochinitos" skit. I sat with each group to practice pronunciation. They sounded GREAT!


Fourth Grade had a quiz on Gender of nouns, We read Las Aventuras de Isabela Chapter 5, and we practice the skit.


Fifth Grade kept working on chapter 1B. We reviewed Definite and Indefinite Articles in Spanish. Students learned the word order for placement of the adjectives. They found out what their personality is according to their favorite color. Ask them!

started learning about the family / La familia. We described each other families in Spanish. ¿Cómo es tu familia?.....Mamá - Papá - Hermano - Hermana.

Review the parts of the face vocabulary "La Cara", and they started learning Body Parts / Las partes del cuerpo.


Second Grade reviewed vocabulary from last week, and they started learning about fruits / Las Frutas.

started learning about Gender of nouns in Spanish. The students need to memorize the exception words. We practice a lot in class.

had a quiz on body parts and started learning about animals. We watched 2 videos " Los Animales" and "En La Granja de Mi Tío"

 

Fourth Grade had a days of the week, months and seasons of the year quiz. We read Las Aventuras de Isabela chapter 4. We practiced the skits....looking good!!! You will be able to see them perform them soon.

Third Grade
reviewed the body parts vocabulary " Las Partes del Cuerpo", we played El Juego de Chirimbolo, bingo and around the world.


Fourth Grade
reviewed the days of the week, months and seasons of the year. We did some worksheets in class and practice our dialogues. Soon parents are going to be able to watch them perform theirs skits.

Seventh Grade started ar ending verbs, meaning and how to conjugate them. They have verbs. We listened to the song En La Clase and tried to fill in the blank for the missing words. We did a worksheet in class to practice and wrote 8 sentences using different subject pronouns and verbs.


Eight Grade
 started learning about Ser and Estar, how to conjugate them, and when to use them. We did several exercises in class to practice.

Preschool reviewed shapes (círculo - cuadrado - rectángulo - triángulo - óvalo), we read Shape Walk (Paseo de Figuras) . We sang and danced ¡Hola Amigos! , Con Cosmos.They had a lot of fun :)


Kindergarten started learning about food (queso - jugo - leche - pollo - pan - ensalada - papa). We read a book " A mi abuela le gusta cocinar". We played some games.


First Grade reviewed clothes vocabulary / La Ropa (pantalones - gorro(a) - camisa - zapatos - vestido - calcetines/medias - chaqueta - botas - mochila) and introduced new words (chaqueta - abrigo - falda - guantes - pantalones cortos - botas). We sang "Donde Están Mis Botas" ,"Ponte La Camisa ya" and "La Ropa"

Third Grade learned about body parts / El cuerpo. We watched some videos, and sang head, shoulders, knees and toes in Spanish.

learned about the difference between tú and usted (you). The students completed a worksheet classifying different people according to the way you should treat them (formal or informal). We played a bingo game as a review.

Kindergarten learned Halloween words in Spanish, we reviewed colors and numbers. We also read the poem 5 little pumpkins in Spanish (5 calabazas pequeñas). We played some games.


First Grade took a colors quiz. They learned some Halloween words in Spanish. We reviewed colors and numbers, and we finished by dancing the song "Los Esqueletos"



Second Grade took the days of the week quiz. They learned some Halloween words in Spanish, and we watched "Los Esqueletos" Video.


Third Graders were introduced to the Hispanic Holiday the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos). We read some information about it and we watched a video on vimeo.com

Kindergarten reviewed the colors (rojo - azul - verde - amarillo - morado - anaranjado - negro - blanco - rosado - marrón or café - gris). We sang Colores, we read a color book and we played Veo Veo (The I spy with my little eye Spanish version) and also played Pollo, Café or Chocolate.


First Grade reviewed the colors in Spanish. We sang "Colores". The children color a color code sheet and we play "Around the World"



Second Grade reviewed Days of the week (lunes-martes-miércoles-jueves-viernes-sábado-domingo). We sang Días de la semana, and played The Calendar Game. We had some time to do a few rounds of Around the World.


Third Graders had a numbers quiz 0- 60. We started with Month of the year. We sang "Los meses del año". We played around the world.


Fourth Graders started on food and mealtime. We talked about meal habits in Spanish countries.

Eight Graders reviewed verbs that end in AR. I introduced new verbs. We listened to the song " En La Clase", and the students filled in the blank the missing words, then we sang the song with the completed lyrics. They completed a worksheet in class. We played charades in teams.

First Grade took a quiz on numbers from 0 to 20. They learned the colors in Spanish.

Kindergarten reviewed numbers from 0 to 15, I asked them ¿cómo te llamas?, ¿cómo estás? and ¿cuántos años tienes? and most of them responded. We played bingo :)


First Grade reviewed numbers from 0 to 20. We played bingo to review the lesson.


Second Grade had a numbers dictation 0- 20, they all did very well. We studied the numbers from 21 to 40. They prepared a bingo card and we played bingo to review the lesson.


Third Graders reviewed the numbers from 0-40. We watched a video "Cuenta". We started today numbers from 41-60.They watch a Power Point presentation about numbers, we sang "Cuenta"and another number song. To end the lesson we played a number game.


Fourth Graders
had a quiz on class objects. We went over the rules on how to make a noun plural. We did a listening practice
, I dictated a word and the students wrote them in singular and plural. We played Around the World.

Second Grade reviewed the greeting vocabulary, polite words, and the times of the day vocabulary. We worked on a worksheet in class and practice talking with a classmate.

reviewed the Spanish Alphabet by checking the homework, we practice the letters sound by singing Orale El Alfabeto. Also, we read El Mundo de Felipe chapter 1. This is a book written in Spanish and the children are doing great!

learned the classroom objects vocabulary. They completed a worksheet in class. We played around the world.

Preschool had Spanish for the first time this week. It was VERY FUN! We sang Good Morning and the class rules in Spanish. They learned how to say hello, good bye, and respond ¿Cómo te llamas?(What is your name?), me llamo.....We sang and dance, and we even have time to play a game.


Kindergarten reviewed Spanish greetings and feelings. We read a book called Margaret and Margarita. We also sang, dance, and play a game.


First Grade reviewed Spanish greetings and feelings. They practiced with a classmate a mini dialogue.



Second Grade reviewed the greeting vocabulary and polite words. I introduced the times of the day vocabulary ( Buenos Días, Buenas Tardes, y Buenas Noches).


Third Graders learned the Spanish Alphabet, we went over how the letters sound in Spanish. Also, they copy a Spanish word for each letter of the alphabet. We watched a video " Orale El Alfabeto.


Fourth Graders reviewed all greetings, basic expressions and polite words use in Spanish. They worked and presented their Spanish dialogues in class.
