Updates for the Week of May 21th:

We had a great time going "back in time" to the 1800's on our field trip to Quiet Valley.  We were so lucky that the weather held up for the day.  It is hard to believe the school year is coming to an end!  Summer is right around the corner!  Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!!  Looks like the weather should clear up!   

Reminder: 
There is no school on Monday, May 28th in observation of Memorial Day. 
 *  Fourth grade will have field day next Wednesday, May 30th from 1:30-3:00.  Please see the note 
     that will come home today.  The rain-date is Tuesday, June 5th.      


Reading   Due to our field trip on Wednesday, I decided to move the Week 1 Quiz to Tuesday, May 29th (The following strategies are the ones that will be on the Week 1 quiz.  Wednesday we will begin Week 2 in Unit 7.  The last weekly quiz will be given on June 5th.  We will use the remaining days for students to wrap up work on and present their final inquiry project for the year.

Weekly Focus Question:
 How are geography and the economy connected in the Mountain States?

Spelling: Pre-test Next Wednesday.  Last Spelling test: Tuesday, June 5th


Math:
The final math test will be given on Thursday, May 31st (Chapter 8).  We will then go through some of the lessons in Chapter 12.  However, chapter 12 will not be tested. 


Social Studies:   Next week, we will wrap up the Southwest Region.  There will be a test on Chapter 10 on Friday, June 1st.  We will wrap up the year by learning about the States and Capitals of the West.  Students will also take a "Challenge" to name all 50 States and Capitals.  This will not be graded however, there will be a prize for any student who is able to name ALL 50 States and Capitals.
