About The Teacher
I've been teaching and learning from children for 30 years now! I've been in kindergarten, first and multiage classrooms all in the Avon Grove School District. I live in Arden, Delaware with several cats! I have a daughter and great friend, Sam, who graduated from Haverford College and is teaching now also! I enjoy reading, contra dancing, crosswords, volleyball, and teaching. I'm also a contra dance caller in the Philadelphia area. Mission
The multiage philosophy is an important one to me. It feels right to have children for more than one year. I really get to know them, as well as their families, and can better know how to support them on their learning journey. I hold out high expectations for the children academically, but even more important to me is the child's self esteem and the sense of community within the classroom. I feel that the multiage configuration mirrors that of a family in which every member is valued and supported.
