Dear Parents,
“Think addition” that is the sign that is on the board this week. We talked
about there are times in subtraction that counting back or “taking away” does
not work. There are two other methods we are working on. One is to count up
such as 9-7 (count from 7 to 9) and the other is think addition.
14-6= (what plus 6=14) I have a missing addend paper for homework that will
help with this concept. In addition there is another subtraction paper to
come home. Please try and reinforce these other methods instead of taking
away.
We are reading and writing poetry this week!
