Happy Holidays! We hope you all had a restful Thanksgiving and enjoyed some family time. We are
likewise looking forward to family time with your relatives at our annual Grandparents' Day celebration
scheduled for the morning of December 4th. We will meet the grandparents in the gym at 9:30 to
begin our festivities. Please remind them that they will be visiting with only second graders that
morning while the rest of the student body is engaged in their regular learning activities.

There are many other exciting events planned for December at Deibler, please review the calendar page
to see when our winter concerts, sing-a-long, and spirit days are scheduled. Also check for your
child's first day of swimming and be sure to send them to school prepared with a bathing suit and towel
on regularly scheduled gym days. Now that the weather is changing over to winter conditions,
remember that your child is outside for approximately 45 minutes a day. Send them to school with
appropriate clothing including a hat and gloves as well as a winter coat, not a sweatshirt, please.

In class we will be spending time concluding our family unit in social studies and turning our attention
to thematically studying different winter holidays. We will look at varying literature, traditions, and the
histories behind these cultural events as well as sharing our own manner of celebrating within families.
Second grade will be wrapping up our review of printing in preparation for learning cursive beginning
in January. We will also continue practicing place value, time, and problem solving in our math
program.

We hope you have a safe and pleasant holiday with your families and we can't wait to see you all in the
new year!

Thank you so much,
The Second Grade Teachers
