The goal of the IST   Program is to provide support for "at risk" students and the teachers of these students. The role of the IST   Teacher is to be the person who provides the support to the classroom teacher in terms of strategies and interventions required to meet the unique needs of every student within the regular education setting.

The IST   Teacher also is responsible for organizing a team of educational professionals and family members, who together develop a plan of interventions, to help the student continue to make progress within the regular education setting.
