Physical Education

Physical Education plays an important role in your child's
development. Physical activity builds success through confidence,
cooperation, problem solving, body awareness, fitness, skill development,
socialization and fun. These components are all part of our physical
education program at Patricia A. Guth Elementary School.
Please help your child prepare and dress for success in physical
education.
     1) Sneakers - Children should wear athletic sneakers when they are
scheduled for physical education. Activities such as jumping, climbing,
running and changing direction are all safer when the proper footwear is
worn. Please encourage your child to wear athletic (tied or velcro)
sneakers to physical education. Children wearing sandals, boots, slip-ons
and dress shoes may be unable to participate in those activities mentioned
above.
     2) Comfortable Clothing - This permits movement and provides safety
during activity. Girls need to wear shorts or slacks to physical education.
     3) Remove All Jewelry - Please send a note to Mrs. Bolenius if your
child needs to wear a specific item, ie. post earrings. All other jewelry
is to be removed for safety reasons.
     4) Wear Soft Hair Accessories - Butterfly clips and metal items need to
be removed to insure safety.
If you have sneakers in good condition and they are too small for your
child, please consider donating them to our physical education program.
Donated sneakers will be used by students who otherwise would be unprepared
for class. I thank you in advance.
I am looking forward to a great year as we celebrate, "Choosing to Make
a Difference." If I can answer any questions, please contact me at school
(215) 257-8057 x2600 or by e-mail sboleniu@pennridge.org.
     Thank you,
     Mrs. Sharon Bolenius
