For many years before my two children were born I taught 6th
grade at Deibler, even when it was called East Rockhill. After
staying home with them for a number of years, I returned to teaching
as a per diem substitute, which led to various stints as a long-term
substitute. During the time I subbed, I taught all of the elementary
grade levels, library, Learning Support, and music classes. It was
an exciting and enjoyable experience.
This is my thirteenth year at Sellersville. Before that, I taught
fifth grade and second grade at Bedminster. One of my favorite
experiences as a teacher is to see the many students I've taught grow
up and begin their own lives. Some have even become teachers!
My goal is to meet each student where s/he is, to enrich her/his
knowledge and assist him/her in his/her ability to be an independent
learner. To accomplish this, each student needs to take
responsibility for his/her behavior and work habits. The only person
each of us can change is ourself.
I hope to create an enjoyment of learning, a willingness to work to
accomplish learning, a sense of community in the classroom, and a
curiosity about the world around us, past and present. The skills of
reading, writing, and speaking are essential to these tasks.
Responsibility is a key element, as well.
