What is our Special Schedule this year? Our Special Schedule will now run on a six day cycle, which means we will have two of the same special in one six day cycle. The doubled special will rotate each marking period. Day 1 Library 12:30-1:20 Day 2 Music 12:30-1:15 Day 3 Phys Ed. 12:30-1:25 Day 4 Comupter 2:00-3:00 Day 5 Art 1:45-2:40 Day 6 Library 1:30-2:05 Mrs. Aspan-Music Mrs. Donnely-Physical Education Miss Forest-Art Mr. Romito-Library Homework is given Monday through Thursday, Friday's homework will be to read, work on long-term projects, and possibly study for upcoming tests. Any homework not handed in on the day it is due will not be given full credit. Spelling: Spelling pre-test will be given on Monday's and post-test will be given on Friday's. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays students are required to complete a homework assignment of their choice to be turned in the following day. On Thursday evenings students are encouraged to study and practice for their post-tests given on Fridays. Reading: Students are required to read 20 minutes or more each night, and get their reading sheets signed daily. Writing/Science/Soc. Studies: Homework in these areas will vary during the year. Due dates for any projects and or assignment will be given in advance. What Field Trips do we take in Fifth Grade? In Fifth Grade we go on a number of exciting field trips! The Adventure Aquarium, Camden, NJ-March/April The Gettysburg Battle Field, Gettysburg,PA-May/June Civil War Living History Day in June We also meet our Senior Buddies from Rockhill Menonite Community 3 or 4 times during the year. What is the Sign and Return Folder? The Sign and Return Folder will come home each Friday. Inside you will find your child's graded work, notes/information from the office, weekly newletters, and monthly calendars for the classroom. Please revie the greaded work, sign the communication paper, (which will top the packet of graded work), and place it back in the folder. The folder should be signed and return on Monday's. All other papers in the folder are for you to keep at home. The reading sheet is a way to keep track of the reading your child does each night and throughout the month. Please sign the reading sheet each night to verify your child is reading the 20 minutes required. What is the Challenge Spelling Program? The challenge spelling program is for students who have mastered the core spelling list during the pre-test assessment on Monday. Should you recieve a 100 on your pre-test, then you have the opportunity to create a spelling list of your choice. The list should consist of 20 curriculum related words you are interested in learning. On Friday, instead of taking the core list spelling post-test you will take a challenge list spelling post-test. |
