Homework

You will have about 10 hours of homework a night. JUST KIDDING!!!

Seriously, all homework should be written down in your assignment book each
day. All assigments are posted on the board & we go over it each day before
you leave, so be sure you're responsible! Assignments are selected to
reinforce concepts presented in class and should be completed independently.

In a normal week you will have a nightly math assignment, Monday - Thursday,
a weekly language arts assignment and perhaps something from the other
subjects as well. Every two weeks you will have 2 spelling assignments which
are given on a Friday and due the following Thursday(tests are every other
Friday). On average you should spend about 50 minutes a night on homework.

Please remember to read at least 20 minutes five days a week in order to
prepare for your reading conferences and independent reading project. Please
remember to record the number of minutes and pages that you read on your
calendar. Also, once a month, students are asked to read aloud to an adult
and have the form on the back of the calendar completed.

It is also a great idea to read aloud a few pages a night to practice your
fluency, pacing and expression.

Remember, 1 book project is assigned each marking period.

*Lastly, those who play an instrument, remember to practice!
