CLASSROOM NEWS *******November 2, 2009******* Hello! I would like to thank everyone who has sent in classroom supplies and the treats for the Fall Festival. Your contributions are appreciated and enjoyed by all. Math - We have been working with place value and organizing data. The students are learning the landmarks used when analyzing data. Reading - Our class will be reading "The Great Kapok Tree". We are continuing to practice reading comprehension strategies. Science - During the second half of the marking period the students will be learning about food chains and animal adaptations. Language Arts - We have been journaling, reviewing the steps of the writing process and discussing fourth grade expectations in writing. The students have written a 5 W's poem and a diamante poem. We have visited the library to practice our research skills. Please make sure your child has a hi-lighter available. This is a key tool for the students to use at home and in school. Students should develop the habit of highlighting key words in questions and directions for all subjects. Homework would be a perfect place to practice this skill. Conference reminders will be sent out Monday, November 9th. Progress reports will be going home Tuesday, November 17th. Ms. Chelbus
