What background checks and classes are required for volunteers?
1) PA State Police Criminal Background Check (FBI check for volunteers who
have resided in PA for less than 6 months).
2) PA Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Clearance Check.
3) Attend the "Protecting God's Children for Adults Workshop". (SEE THE
LINKS PAGE ON THE SACRED HEART CYO WEBSITE FOR DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO REGISTER
FOR THE WORKSHOP.)
Who is required to attend the class and submit background checks?
ALL PEOPLE WISHING TO VOLUNTEER
Where can I obtain the forms?
The Rectory has all the necessary forms for background checks and clearances.
What is the process?
1) Obtain forms from the Rectory office.
2) Complete forms & return them to the Rectory office.
3) The Rectory will process the PA Criminal Check on-line.
They will mail the PA Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Clearance
forms. The PA Department of Public Welfare Clearance will be sent directly
to you the volunteer. (The cost of this process is $20.00 per volunteer,
which will be paid for by the parish.)
4) You must bring the PA Department of Public Welfare Clearance paperwork
to the Rectory so a copy can be made and kept on record at the Rectory.
5) All volunteers must have "Protecting God’s Children for Adults Workshop"

DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE WORKSHOP.)
ALL NEW SCHOOL FAMILIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE THE FORMS IN JULY AS IT
TAKES 6 WEEKS BEFORE CLEARANCES ARE RETURNED FROM THE STATE.
