| Welcome to the CARES website. CARES is the after school program which is
held from 3-6:00 p.m. on school days for students at Sacred Heart School
through Gr. 6.(Special arrangements will be made for older children or choir
siblings). This program is in conjunction with the days of attendance
listed in the school calendar. It does not include holidays or any day in
which the school is closed due to an emergency. CARES is not available on
days when the school has an early dismissal (e.g. snow storms, half-days,
etc.) The rates and fees below reflect the 2008-2009 school year.

If a parent has an emergency, running late due to bad weather, or bad road
conditions, please call the number above. This is the direct line to Cares.
This number is readily available, (3 P.M.- 6 P.M. Monday-Friday) for parents
to call and check in. To contact me during the day, please leave a voice
mail. I check my messages before CARES, and I will promptly return
your call..

GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE CARES PROGRAM: Parents are required to
complete a registration form and include a $ 5.00 registration fee PRIOR to
using the Cares program. You must pay the registration fee, or you are not
considered registered. Each year you must re-register for the program.
Completing the registration form, is for your child's safety. Parents will
provide emergency contact information and a person, who can pick up your
child, if there is an emergency or illness. This person must be local and
can
pick up your child within 20 minutes. CARES will not accept more than 50
children, so register early. A registration form is available at the end of
these notes.
PAYMENT INFORMATION REGARDING CARES: Parents will prepay for services.
Payment will be due on Thursday for the following week. If payment has not
been received do not send your child to CARES on Monday, unless you have
made
prior payment arrangements with the CARES Director. If your child is sick
and
misses a day, you will be pro-rated for that day and given a credit for the
following week.
Fees: These are the 2008-2009 rates.
$ 15.00/daily/one child.
$ 20.00/daily/two children.
$ 25.00/daily/three children.
$ 8.00/ 3 P.M.-4 P.M.Promptly (One Child)
$10.00/3 P.M.-4 P.M.Promptly(Two Children)

After 4.00 P.M., the daily rate will charged.
***$8.00/afterschool activities late fee/Children who are in afterschool
activites and parents arrive late (4:05-4:30 P.M.) and child was placed in
Cares are charged $ 8.00. Arriving after 4:30 P.M., parents are charged $
15.00 daily fee.
***If a child is in an after school activity, and is placed in the Cares
After School Program because a parent is late picking up, the first time the
parent will be charged the applicable late fee alone. Should this happen a
second time and a child is place in Cares again because the parent is late
to pick up, the parent will be charged the applicable late fee, PLUS the
registration fee($5.00). Your child will then be registered and enrolled in
the Cares Program. It will be necessary to fill out the registration form,
as
well. Again, the registration and enrollment is for the child's safety, to
reach you in case of an emergency.
LATE FEE - A parent or guardian, who arrives later than 6:00 p.m., to pick
up their child, will be charged an overtime rate. This payment will be made
to the coordinator of the program at the time of pick-up. If a parent is
late three times, the child/children will be dismissed from the program.
These are the new late fees for 2008-2009:
One Child
$15.00/First 10 minutes- $8.00 for each 10 minute interval of lateness after
the first 10 minutes.
Two Children
$20.00/First 10 minutes- $10.00 for each 10 minute interval of lateness
after the first 10 minutes.
Three Children
$25.00/First 10 minutes- $12.00 for each 10 minute interval of lateness
after the first 10 minutes.
INCLEMENT WEATHER-When weather gets really really cold or if it's rainy,
CARES will not go outside to play. We are able to use the gym, please send
sneakers with your child on an indoor day. Students may not run with school
shoes in the gym. The child will have to sit out that day if he/she does not
have sneakers with them. A parent may send a video to share, with their
child, but it must be rated G. If your child has a favorite game that he/she
would like to share, please label it and send it into CARES.
Reminder: Game Boys are allowed to be brought to CARES, but there is no
sharing of games or sharing of Game Boys permitted.
PLAY CLOTHES - Students are encourage to bring suitable play clothes daily.
Do not include shirts, shorts or pants with writing/printing on them. No
open
toe shoes.Please do not place play clothes in the same bag in which your
child carries his/her books. Label your child's clothing!! As the seasons
change, make sure your child is dressed in appropriate winter attire, as we
generally go outside between 3:15-4:00 P.M., unless it is bitterly cold and
windy.
Please include a separate drink and a snack, just for CARES, if your child
is
attending the program. CARES DOES NOT have any snacks or drinks to provide
if
a child forgets his/her snack.
ATTENDANCE - If a child will not be present at CARES on his/her regularly
scheduled day, please call or send a note in inform us.
STUDENT BEHAVIOR - It is understood that the child/children will be
dismissed from the CARES Program upon the discretion of the coordinator and
principal for disciplinary reasons after three warnings have been issued to
the child and parent.
