Registration Information 2009-2010

NOTE: Students must be the age of 3,4,5 or 6 by August 31st in order to be eligible for the appropriate pre-kindergarten, kindergarten or first grade classroom.

The following items are required for registration. Registration will not be complete until all items are presented.

· Copy of Baptismal Certificate (unless baptized at Sacred Heart Church)

Registration for new families for the 2009-2010 school year begins March 2, 2009. Please call Mrs. Gloria-Jean Campbell at the rectory (610-932-5040) to set up an appointment with our pastor, Rev. Gregory Hamill.

All registrations and re-admissions take place at the rectory.

Registration

School
families who currently have children enrolled in Sacred Heart School and have paid their tuition in full for the current academic year are welcome to register their children beginning in the first week of February. You will receive a registration form from the rectory and may return it personally or by mail. Kathy Cini can process your registration during normal business hours (8.30am-4pm M-F) and also at these additional times:

Wednesday, February 11th 6pm-9pm
Tuesday, February 17th 6pm-9pm
Saturday, February 21st 12pm-3pm

School families who currently have children enrolled in Sacred Heart School but have not paid their tuition in full for the current academic year must pay their tuition in full before receiving a registration form for their children for the next academic year. You are welcome to pay the remaining balance of your tuition by credit card.

New families (families who have not previously enrolled children at Sacred Heart) are welcome to begin the registration process on March 2nd by meeting with Fr. Hamill and completing a registration form after meeting with him.

All families (current and new) registering after March 13th are subject to being placed on a waiting list if there are not sufficient students to open an additional classroom in the grade in which they wish to enroll their child/children. This is unlikely yet possible.

Families registering after March 13th will not be eligible for financial aid from the parish.

The registration fee for the 2009-2010 academic year remains at $175 ($75 for Pre-K).

Families registering after April 30th pay an additional registration fee of $100 to cover additional expenses because of loss of government reimbursements for instructional materials.

Families registering after April 15th have three options for tuition payment:

1. Payment in full at registration
2. Payment in full of "missed" payments and then payment of "regular" amount for remaining months.
3. Prorated monthly payments.

Example: Mr. and Mrs. Smith register their two children on July 1st. They can pay:

1. $4500 on July 1st
2. $1500 (for April, May and June) and then $500 a month afterwards
3. $750 per month for remaining 6 months.

Registration and Residence

Sacred Heart School
will no longer accept new registrations from families who live within the geographical boundaries of a parish that already has a parish school. Otherwise, the parish accepts registrations from families who live outside of the geographical boundaries of Sacred Heart who do not have a parish school. New families who live outside of the geographical boundaries of Sacred Heart pay out of parish tuition rates without exception.

Payment of Tuition

Families are strongly encouraged to enroll in electronic funds transfer for the payment of tuition-especially transfer from a checking account. You may pay by credit card, however, the school loses income because of the merchandise fee of approximately 2% on payments.

Electronic funds transfer vastly simplifies the administrative process for the staff. Please, if at all possible, arrange to pay by electronic funds transfer.

If you choose to pay by check or cash, you still must have credit card information on file at the rectory so that a missed payment may automatically be charged to your credit card.

Tuition payments are due on the 15th day of the month. A ten day grace period is given. If tuition payment is not received by the 25th of the month your credit card will be charged on the 26th for the amount of the missed payment plus a 2% (processing fee) plus a $25 late fee.

Tuition and Contributions

Families who are registered at Sacred Heart and who send children to our school have an obligation to support the mission of Sacred Heart through financial contributions. At a minimum school families are to contribute $750 in the Sunday offering which is about 1-1.5% of the average household income for our area townships. It is our hope on average our families would contribute 2.5-5% of their annual income to support the mission of Sacred Heart. Notification of contributions will be emailed quarterly to school families. Formal notification of a deficiency in contributions will be made by November 15th. Families who do not make this minimum offering by December 31st of the calendar year will automatically be charged a non-participating tuition rate in the following academic year. The non-participating rate for this upcoming academic year would have been $4,005 per child.

Tuition Assistance/Financial Aid Form

You are encouraged to complete a financial aid form for tuition assistance of up to $250 per child from the parish for eligible families. Please submit your financial aid form with your child/children's registration form. Information about additional outside sources of financial aid (BLOCS) is available in your registration packet.

*2 classes will remain open in these grades if the enrollment of current students remains above 35.

The goal of
Sacred Heart School is to have no more than 30 students per classroom. In order to alleviate difficulties some students may have in these larger classes a resource teacher (Miss Kathy McCabe) for these grades has been hired for next year.

Additional classrooms in K,1,7, and 8 will not be opened until enrollment reaches 44. Grades 2 and 3 would not be constricted next year unless enrollment fell below 31 (very unlikely). New families who seek to enroll children in grades 4, 5, and 6 will automatically be placed on a waiting list. They will be notified if there is available space in grades 4, 5, and 6 on March 13th.

Refund

After teacher contracts are signed (May 15th) tuition payments are partially refundable on a pro-rated basis.

There are a total of 9 payments. All tuition payments are due by the 15th of the month. Payment months are April through December.

Payments may be made by Authorization for Direct Debit (form enclosed), Visa, Master Card or Discover (form enclosed). Make checks payable to Sacred Heart School.

Sacred Heart will not send payment books this year we will send monthly statements via email. It is a requirement this year to submit credit card information. If your payment is not received by the 25th of the month Sacred Heart will process a payment on your credit card. There is a late fee of $25 that will be charge as well as a 2% processing fee. A $25 service fee is charged on all checks returned by your bank for any reason.

REGISTRATION FEE

The materials fee is $175.00 per family and is due at the time of registration. This fee is non-refundable unless the student is not accepted for admission into the school. If registration is not received by April 30, 2009 the registration fee will increase to $275.

LUNCH FEE

The lunch fee is $20. This year lunch fee is due at the time of registration. The lunch fee covers the parent supervision in the cafeteria.
