A BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND HEALTHY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO ALL THE PARENTS AND FRIENDS OF ST. ALOYSIUS SCHOOL

I wish you all that this wonderful season brings with it. May you be drawn
closer to the Lord as you contemplate the Savior's birth. May you reflect on
the warm memories of Christmases past, and may you mold new traditions as you
celebrate this holiday with family and friends. God bless.

                           LANGUAGE ARTS CLASSES

The 8th grade has embarked on "The You've Made a Difference" Award. It is our
effort to make sure on one is ever taken for granted. Recipients whom the
students have personally selected are asked to forward the award to someone
who has made a difference in their own life. We keep record of individuals we
have heard from. To date 21 responses have been received.

Both 7th and 8th grades are continuing the study of poetry. We've covered
such writers as e e cumming. The students love his style of no caps and no
punctuation. We've also met Ogden Nash, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Robert Frost,
and Walt Whitman.
Seventh grade is just completing "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" and they
are amzaed that back i9n my day,I had to memorize the entire poem.
Eighth grade wil be beginning our study of Edgar Allan Poe - always a
favorite. We'll be studying "The Raven" as well as working on web sites,
viewing films, and reading some of his chilling stories.

                                FANCY FRIENDS
This is the new name for our "Advent Angels", who are our Unit A friends.
Unit D students will be visiting and working with their first and second
grade friends with regular visits. Our next project will be a Christmas
activity, and or course, let's not forget the Feast of St. Nick.
"Walking-on-Wednesdays" together during recess has also brought Unit A and
Unit D together. The little ones love their upper grade friends.
