Nightly homework is necessary to reinforce the skills taught in the classroom Seventh and eighth grade is an important time for the development of time management, independence, and responsibility. Under the guidance of parents, this isn't usually too painful; however, if problems arise, please feel free to contact me. Language Arts requires STUDYING NOTES (not looking over)each evening. Memorizing the day's notes enables the student to be an active learner in the classroom.Preparing for a test cannot be done in one night. This includes Grammar and Literature, and will be followed up by a weekly quiz. All major tests and quizzes are announced. Written homework usually involves exercises from the Grammar Workbook. My specific directions given in class are to be followed. Students' homework grade a affected by incomplete assignments. I expect the notes and homework done in the copybook to be done neatly and following my directives. If a student has forgotten to do homework, he or she is expected to see me first thing in the morning. If this is an ongoing problem, I will notify parents of missing assignments with a homework slip which must be signed and returned to me the next day along with the completed work. All assignments, which includes getting test signed, must be completed on time. Finally, students should always be reading! Reading improves comprehension, vocabulary, and written expression.
