Source Citations

Students should realize that citing or giving credit to the source of their information is a vital part of the research process. This applies to both pictures and written material. Students are expected to provide source citations as soon as they begin to learn the research process. To help students with the citation process, each student in grades five through eight will have a Noodle Tools Account for his or her personal use.
All students in grades five through eight will have been assigned their own Noodle Tools accounts. These accounts can be accessed from any computer with internet capabilities. Accounts can be accessed by logging on to www.noodletools.com and using the name and password assigned to the student during library class.

Remember that pictures and images taken from the internet are protected by copyright law as well as written material. This means that in many cases they can not be used without permission. There are, however, a number of copyright free or friendly sites with images that may be freely used by students. For a list of these sites go to http://eduscapes.com/tap/topic98.htm.
