Movies in History!
(This page is a work-in-progress. We've been talking movies in 7th and 8th grade History. Stay tuned for updates.)
Here is a list of movies I like that you might find useful for class (or a snow day, or sick day, or .....) Warning: Some of these movies are violent - check with your parents if it is appropriate for you!!!!
Gettysburg From the book "The Killer Angels". It is one of the better Civil War flicks with only a few "made-up" parts to make it flow.
1776 Sing your way through the writing of the Declaration of Independence! If you remember the music, you can pass the test! One of my favorites of all time. I saw it years ago as the original Broadway play on the 4th of July with my Grandpa O'Leary.
The Longest Day World War II D-Day Warning: it is a longgggg movie. Make sure you have a lot of snacks.
The Great Escape U.S. and British prisoners of war try to escape a Nazi prison camp. A great action film!!!! If you like NCIS, look for Ducky as a young British officer.
Midway Good (it would be great but there is an annoying romance story stuck in the middle -yuck) but the historical facts are accurate and the actual archival film footage of this Pacific battle is awesome.
