Book Reports

                                Book Reports
                           The Fifth Grade Way!

It is time to begin 'doing' book reports. But as Fifth Graders you can have
other options to demonstrate you understanding of what you have read. You
may sitll write a standard book report but I have some other choices if you
want to tell me about your book in a different way.

Beginning Niv. 3rd, and ending in June, you will have to read 6 different
types of books. We have many more weeks of Library than that so you will
still have time to take out books of your choice. You may read and report on
the books in any order you choose as long as all six catagories are completed
by June.

If we have different types of books we should also be able to do different
ytpes of Book Reports. All book reports should:
    Include name of student
    List title and author
Explain main idea or plot if fiction
    Contain descriptions of main characters
    Summarize story
    If a non-fiction selection
Compile list of facts gain from reading the selection

Your six catagories are:
     1. Fiction - your choice of any kind
     2. Fiction - fantasy or science fiction
     3. Biography or autobiography
     4. History
     5. Science
     6. Religion

Please confer with me to select the most effective format for the report.
You can use the traditional, written book report form ot select one from the
form' list posted in class.

If you can think of another way to demonstrate what you have learned after
reading your book, tell me your plan. If it fulfills all the requirements of
a quality book report then you can go ahead and produce your best work!
