Homework Policy:
Students are responsible for copying down their own homework from the
board. This is completed right away in the morning after unpacking. A
homework sheet is provided for your child on each Monday. However,
beginning in October there will not be a homework sheet.
Please review the following homework policy.
Homework is a significant source of reinforcement of content taught in
school. The required time for second grade homework is 30 minutes.
If your child is having difficulty completing something given for homework
please have your child circle the problem and I will know to help your child
with this at snack recess. I would prefer that any difficulties be brought
to my attention rather than having your child spend hours on homework. It is
OK for your child not to understand something or have some difficulty in
homework.
Homework is included in assessment. I include homework as twenty percent of
your child’s grade. Everyone starts with a 100% in homework. If a homework
assignment is incomplete your child will receive a “Missing Assignment” slip
and two points will be deducted from their homework grade. The “Missing
Assignment” slip is to be signed and returned.
It is strongly suggested that homework be accomplished and completed
independently with moderate guidance.
Thank you for your cooperation
