Lunch Program
Dear Parents,
Welcome to our lunch program. For those of you new to the
school I just want to take this opportunity to explain how the lunch program works.
Mr. Jack Koser, director of food services of Lower Merion school district will prepare the
lunches at his facility in Lower Merion and will then transport them to St. Pius (our kitchen will
be used to heat the lunches). All lunches will follow the nutritional guidelines established by
the Department of Education, and a calendar detailing the menu choices will be sent home
monthly.
The
cost per lunch will be
$3.25.
Included in this price will be the specified entrée
as well as your child's choice of milk, lemonade or iced tea. As per the nutritional guidelines set
forth by the state, no soda will be served.
Your children will be able to choose from 3 lunch entrees daily. Their first choice will vary
every day, but the 2
nd
and 3
rd
selections will always remain the same. Basically, I am planning
on sending home 1 copy of the monthly menu for you to keep as a reference so as to remind you
of the day's food choices and/or whether your child(ren) decided to purchase lunch on any given
day. The other menu that I will send home will be a blank calendar, and on each daily box will be
the words 1
st
choice, 2
nd
choice, 3
rd
choice with blank spaces next to them. I will ask that after you
review the monthly menu and decide which entrees your child will want (and on which days),
that you place a check mark on the blank calendar for your choice for that day and send that
calendar back to school
along with the money
(the lunches need to be prepaid ) c/o Pat Rafferty.
I then need to count the orders and e-mail the total to LowerMerion. I would like to stress that it is
very important
that the menu be sent back on time so that I can get an accurate count and
send it Lower Merion Nutritional services.
This program has been very successful these last couple of years making money for our Home
and School Association. Hopefully we can enjoy its continued success.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call me
at 610-353-3262, or e-mail me at

Thank you,
Pat Rafferty
