For the Week of November 30
It was wonderful meeting all of you during conferences. I am very happy to be
an important part of your child's life and help them grow into the best
person they can be. It is amazing to see them grow!
December will be a very busy month and there are many activities planned.
Please be sure your child has all of his/her supplies in their pencil case.
Please send in a medium-sized Christmas gift bag labeled with your child’s
name on the bottom of the bag, along with 2 pieces of tissue paper by Friday,
December 11. We will be making something special with the help of our eighth
grade buddies.
This Friday is First Friday Mass at 8:30am. Please join us if you can.
We may have a special visitor too so please send in an extra shoe.
We have a long weekend next week. The children do not have school on Monday,
December 7, a teacher in-service day, and Tuesday, December 8, the Feast of
the Immaculate Conception.
The children will have an opportunity to shop at Santa's Secret Shop on
Thursday, December 10. A special envelope will be coming home soon.
What we will learn this week:
RELIGION
We will read and discuss Chapter 13, Advent, make our own Advent wreath,
learn about the Jesse Tree, and read our Promise magazine. We will also
attend First Friday Mass.
MATH
We will choose a strategy to solve word problems and review for our test.
We will also begin Chapter 4, Data and Graphs. Because there are many skills
in this chapter that are not part of our curriculum, we will not be testing
the children on this chapter.
ILA
Our Phonics story is "Yes, We Want Some Too!" and the Main Selection is "Cat
Traps".
The skills we will learn are: drawing conclusions, singular and plural nouns,
short e words, and initial r and l blends.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We will begin learning about Christmas traditions around the World.
SCIENCE
We will complete a Science Kit called Electric Breakfast in the Science Lab.
It will teach us about static electricity.
