For the Week of December 14 There are many activities planned in December. PLEASE be sure your child has ALL of his/her supplies in his/her pencil case. Thank you, Mrs. Klehr, Mrs. Kelly, and Mra. Dedda, for reading us Christmas stories to start off December. It's a fun way to get ready for Christmas! Christian is our Super Kid this week! Our short week last week was filled with fun activities. On Wednesday, we wrote letters to Santa with the help of our 8th Grade Buddies and Mrs. McDonald read us a Christmas story. We visited Santa's Secret Shop on Thursday and we celebrated our First and Eighth Grade Mass and made candy trains on Friday. Thank you Mrs. Klehr, Mrs. Fruhwirth, and Mrs. Nair for helping the children with their trains. The children did a wonderful job participating during our Mass. I am so proud of them! Hannah and Gabriella were cantors, Nate was a reader, and Lizzie was our gift bearer. They were awesome! Thank you parents for joining us! Report Cards will be coming home on Tuesday. Please review it, sign the back, and return it in the brown envelope on Wednesday. This week our 8th Grade Buddies will help us with a special project. Please send in a medium-sized Christmas gift bag with 2 pieces of tissue paper and labeled with your child's name on ther bottom by Wednesday. Chick-fil-A lunch is Wednesday. Please bring a drink and snack or you may bring money to buy them. ***No Pretzels for snack next week. What we will learn this week: RELIGION We will begin our week with lighting our third candle in our Advent wreath. We will also read Chapter 14, Christmas, and watch the 2nd Grade Chistmas play. On Friday we will read our Promise magazine. MATH We will begin Chapter 6, Extending Addition and Subtraction Facts, with adding numbers with sums 13-18. ILA Our Phonics story is "Trucks" and the Main Selection is "Communities." The skills we will learn are: classify, short u, initial c /s sound/ and g /j sound/, and special titles. SOCIAL STUDIES We will continue with our Christmas Around the World unit. We will learn about French, English, Italian, Swedish, and Mexican traditions.
