READING
Our Word List Assessment for List 8 will begin on Tuesday, November 10.
There will also be a couple of review words from List 7. Remember the
children will need to know the words without sounding them out.
SPELLING
Our Spelling test will be on Friday, November 13. The words are:
hot got hop eat sing
not mop top stop sings.
MATH
We will complete our Math Maintenance paper and we will begin grading it. The
Maintenance grades will be averaged for a test grade.
There will be a quiz on Subtraction Facts 8 or less on Thursday,
November 12. It will be similar to the addition quiz.
HANDWRITING
Letters o, O, s, S will be assessed. Proper letter formation, spacing, and
neatness will be graded.
WRITING
The children will be writing a couplet, which is a required writing.
READING
We will take our Unit 2 test on Tuesday, November 17. The first section of
the test will be Reading Comprehension. I will read the stories, questions,
and answer choices to the children. The questions will be on the setting of
the story, cause and effect, sequencing events, author's purpose and antonyms.
The second section of the test is Phonics. The children will be tested
on short vowels (a, i and o), final consonants, -s plurals words (dogs, logs,
etc), and inflected endings -ing, -s.
The third section is Writing and Grammar. The children will pick a word
which best completes each sentence.
The fourth section is Study Skills. The children will answer questions on
the title page and the cover of a book.
Please use the Practice, Phonics and Grammar books (packets) to help review
for this test.
RELIGION
There will be a Religion test on Chapters 3 and 6 on Friday, November 20.
Please read over the chapter review section and page 81. The children will
need to know what each season is all about and the color the priest wears
during the season. The colors are listed below:
Advent and Lent Purple
Christmas and Easter White
Ordinary Time Green
Three Days Red.
