Can you believe the days left in third grade is down to the teens, already?! This year has flown by and the month of May will prove to be just as busy with A LOT of fun spring activities. We are beginning to wrap up our school year with many end of year tests including: DIBELS, math and reading benchmark tests, as well as math and reading 4Sight tests. These are very important as they will be used to track your child's progress in third grade and help with placement for next school year at the intermediate building. We will be visiting the intermediate school with all of the third graders from Shafer, Bushkill, and Lower Nazareth on May 16th. Parents/guardians are invited to attend an Orientation night on May 23rd at 6:00 pm at the intermediate school as well. Our third grade classes will be presenting our first annual Salute to America program on Thursday, May 24th at 6:30 pm. The boys and girls have been practicing their patriotic songs and are eager to share them with all of you. Please mark your calendars and spend the evening listening to our children. For more dates, please check out the Class Calendar link to stay informed of all of the important dates during May. As we wind down the year, we will continue working in math, language arts, and social studies. Please help your child to maintain responsibility and complete nightly homework assignments.
With the warm weather upon us, please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately. No open toed shoes are permitted in school! If you would like to send a snack into school with your child, please make sure it is from the Approved Snack List. If you’re able to donate any items to our classroom, we are in need of tissues. Any support you can offer is greatly appreciated!
We are looking forward to the fun days ahead in third grade during the month of May, but need to remember that we are still in school. I wish you all a wonderful, relaxing summer and thank you for a terrific year in third grade! If you have any questions/concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail.
