I have been teaching in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for forty-six
years. For the past twenty-one years, I have been happily teaching eighth
grade here at St. Athanasius/Immaculate Conception School. I am very proud
of the fact that I attended elementary school at the Immaculate Concption,
and I also graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School. I hold a
bachlor's degree from Chestnut Hill College with a major in elementary
education, and a masters degree from Millersville State University. I
attended St. Joseph's University where I became certified as a reading
specialist. I am also certified to teach religion in the Archdiocese of
Philadelphia. I am proud that I have been nominated as teacher of the year
for the National Catholic Education Association and nominated to be included
in "Who's Who Among American Teachers" nine times by my former students. I
also won the Honorable Mention Award from The Philadelphia Chapter of the
Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers for dedication towards the
future scientists, engineers, and mathematicians of the Delaware Valley. I
belong to the International Reading Association and the National Catholic
Education Association.
My desire for my children is that I enable them to learn and succeed as
they begin their high school careers. The eighth grade is an important year
in your child's life. I also want them to help develop a relationship
with the Lord, so they will become good Catholic, Christian men and women.
Each child needs to discover how he/ she learns and then use these skills
daily. Mathematics, reading, writing and thinking skills are stressed.
Sucess in these areas is essential for children learning in the 21st century.
Hopefully, if we work together your child will have a happy productive year.
