About The Teacher

Greetings! Welcome to the kindergarten at St. Athanasius- Immaculate
Conception Catholic School. My name is Olenka Zajac. This is my 24th year
as the kindergarten teacher. I completed my undergraduate studies at
Chestnut Hill College in 1986. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. My graduate studies were
completed at Arcadia University in 1993. I was nominated Teacher of the
Year in 2000 for the National Catholic Educators of America. I was nominated
again in 2008. I received recognition at the local level from the NCEA and
the school community here at St. Athanasius-Immaculate Conception.
I taught at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Abington for twelve years. I
enjoy reading and listening to music when I'm at home. I enjoy embroidering,
hiking, kayaking, and singing. I've developed an interest in writing for
children. I started writing a story about a little girl from colonial
Pennsylvania. I am in the process of researching information for my story. I
have the pleasure of sharing my joy of writing with the students (all grades)
by serving as the moderator of the Writing Club.
I am an active member of St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bristol, PA.
My husband and I assist the parish council with various functions.

Mission For The Class

It is a great pleasure to welcome the little people to the kindergarten. It
is my goal to work with you, the parents, to bring out the best in every
child. We will work together to help the children develop the work habits
that are necessary to be successful during the current school year and
throughout their lives. The little ones will also have plenty of
opportunities to have fun during their year in kindergarten. Jesus is very
important in my life, and I hope to share His calming presence with the
children. It is important to develop the spiritual dimension of the child,
as well as the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual. I look
forward to a happy, fruitful year.
