Live simply. Love generously.
Care deeply. Speak kindly.
Leave the rest to God.

Dear Parents,
Happy New Year to all. We start the week off by going to Mass with our
Prayer Partners today. That will be a nice way to begin the new year.
Speaking of "new" the children received new copybooks today. They now have
a new Smile and new Star copybook. You will notice that the lines in these
books are smaller. That's to get the children ready for the even smaller
lines they will use in second grade for cursive writing. They are bringing
home the old blue Smile and Star copybooks. You may keep them forever. They
do not have to be returned to school.
The children also received a copybook that they will use as a Journal.
Please help your child cover the front and back with things that tell about
them. They may use pictures, drawings, stickers, or whatever else you want
to make this a special book for them. Please be sure that your child's name
can be seen somewhere on the front cover and then cover the whole thing with
clear contact paper. These books are due back on Friday, January 9th. I
can't wait to see them. I love looking at all the different ways the
children make this book tell about themselves.
On Friday the children may bring in something for Show and Tell. I like to
do this after Christmas so the children may share something that is special
to them.
Gym class is on Wednesday and Library is next Monday, January 12th. On
Friday we have ice cream day which cost $1.00 if your child wants ice cream.
All trip slips and money are due on Wednesday, January 7th. I will pick
chaperones on Thursday and let you know right away if you were picked to
join us.
Thank you once again for all your kindnesses during the Christmas Season.
Your generosity always amazes me. Thank you to each and everyone of you.
Fondly,
MRs. DelQuadro

Dear Parents,
How cute were the children on Friday? And didn't you just love the song
Children Go Where I Send Thee? And how about the big finale of Do You Hear
What I Hear? Our first grade has been doing the Christmas show for about 15
years now and it never gets old for me. We had a few hairy practices but
the children always come through in the end. They were wonderful and I
sincerely meant what I said, we are very grateful for all your help with
costumes and practicing lines and everything else you did to help. The
children do remind us what the the Christmas Spirit is all about.
The children may again wear dress clothes on Tuesday when we do the Play for
the entire school. If for whatever reason you or someone in your family was
unable to come on Friday, you are most welcome to come on Tuesday at 10:30
in Church. Costumes will be sent home on Tuesday after the show.
Our Birthday Party for Baby Jesus is tomorrow, Monday. The children may
bring in their Christmas cards then if they wish. Thank you to all the
parents that are sending in treats for our little celebration. The children
are very excited about singing Happy Birthday to Jesus.
Please remember that dismissal is 12:00 on Tuesday and we will see the
children on January 5, 2009 when classes resume. That is a very nice
Christmas break.
May God show you His choicest blessings during this wonderful season.
Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year.
Fondly,
Mrs. DelQuadro

Dear Parents,
Well the week of the big production is upon us. Some children brought
costumes home on Friday. If your child received a costume, please freshen
it up a bit if you can and you may make minor alterations if needed. I have
two angel costumes if anyone needs one. Please let me know asap and I will
send it home. Please do not send costumes to school until the first day of
the play, December 19th.
The children will give the play on two days. Friday, December 19th at 1:15
PM in Church for family and friends and again on Tuesday, December 23rd in
Church at 10:30 AM for our school community. I hope to see you there. As
you know, the children are very excited about this special gift they are
giving to Jesus for His birthday.
Tomorrow the children will have their Religion and Spelling assessments and
then the rest of the week is fun homework. Just so you know, the children
will not be logging this week either so no litle books will be coming home.
As I mentioned last week, on Monday, December 22nd, we are having a birthday
party for Baby Jesus. That is the day to send in Christmas cards if your
child is giving them out.
I hope all your shopping is done and wrapping is almost finished and you get
to enjoy the excitement in the air of this wonderful season. How many times
have you heard the song Children Go Where I Send Thee? I'm singing it in my
sleep. :) Have a wonderful last week before Christmas.
God bless all that you do.

Dear Parents,
This week we will be very busy practicing for our Christmas Presentation.
They children are working very hard and look forward to the big day on
December 19th.
Today we attended the 8:30 Mass as a grade for the first time. Fr. Joe was
the celebrant and was very impressed with how attentive the children were
and all the answers they gave him during the homily. The children got a
round of applause from the congregation at the end of Mass. It was a very
sweet moment.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, we will work with out 7th grade Prayer Partners on an
art project but don't ask too many questions because it's a special surprise
for you for Christmas.
The Children's Christmas Bazaar is on Friday. A paper will be coming home
so you can help your child make his/her shopping list for Christmas. Most
gifts are between $1.00 and $3.00 so you can plan accordingly. Please be
sure to send in a bag with handles so the children can carry their treasures
home. It is alwyas an exciting day for everyone. The children may wear
something for Christmas on that day like Christmas hat, socks, a Christmas
pin, Christmas hair ribbons, Christmas sweater, etc.
We will be having a little Christmas celebration on Monday, December 22nd,
which is Christmas week. We have a birhtday party for Jesus and the
children may bring in cards for their classmates on that day. We have 22
children in our class and we ask you NOT to put names on the envelopes. If
the children bring in 21 cards then every child will get a card and we don't
have to spend so much time figuring out names on envelopes. It works very
well because we've done this in the past. Once I talk to the homeroom moms,
you may be asked to send in a treat for that day if you can. More info will
follow on our Birthday Party for Jesus.
The homework sheet this week is for the next two weeks. No assessments this
week but we will have our Spelling and Religion assessments on Tuesday,
December 16, 2008. After that it will be an easy week for homework.
I think that's it for this week. I'm sure I'll see many of you at the
Christmas Bazaar because we could not do it without you.
Thank you for all that you do for the children and for St. Christopher.
Have a great week.
Mrs. D.

Dear Parents,
Can you believe we are into the Advent season already and Christmas is just
around the corner? I hope everyone was able to enjoy some family time over
this long weekend and maybe you got some Christmas decorating and shopping
done too.
Thank you so much for your generosity to the Women of Hope. We had two very
GIANT boxes overflowing with paper towels and napkins. The drivers from
Women of Hope left with a van filled to the brim with donations from our
school. It was a great sight to behold.
I will be sending home the December/Christmas book clubs flyers this week.
This is the last order before Christmas so if there is anything you want to
order as a Christmas surprise, please drop me a note and I will be sure to
get it to you without little eyes seeing. You may order online also
beginning Monday or you may order through school with a check. All orders
are due on Friday, December 5th.
The children attended Mass with our 7th grade Prayer Partners on Wednesday.
It is always so nice to see the older children showing such good example to
the 1st graders.
Report cards will be distributed this week. Please be sure to sign the
report card before you return it by Tuesday, 12/9/08. If you have any
questions or concerns please contact me and we can chat.
Sweets Day is Friday. All sweets are 25 cents and the children are usually
allowed to buy no more than 4 treats. If you are sending in treats to sell,
please bring them directly to Holy Family Hall or you can send them in with
the children and I will send them down to the Hall. Thank you.
We are having our Spelling Test and our Math "quick quiz" on Friday also.
Have a good week.
