Welcome to St. Christopher School where adults and students are "Making a Difference for Others" ! When home and school work as partners, great things happen. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The following was information presented at a meeting for parents about Safety and Security at St. Chrsitopher School. STUDENT SAFETY & SCHOOL SECURITY I.What do we do to ensure a Safe Environment a.All staff and volunteers receive training; pass criminal clearances b.Protecting God's Children lessons c.Locked doors; Surveillance cameras d.Visitor policy e.Arrival/Dismissal/Absentee policies and guidelines f.Emergency phone numbers II.Archdiocesan Crisis Management Plan a.Assault b.Fire c.Lock Down d.Medical Emergency e.Evacuation - Walking f.Shelter In Place g.Evacuation - Transportation. III.School plans are in-process a.Faculty will be informed/trained b.Students will be taught drill procedures c.Drills and practices will take place IV.Technology a.Security /blocks - School and Home b.Internet - My Space V.In-house - Education a.What parents and students need to know - What policy the school is mandated to follow b.Confidentiality c.Jeremiah EMERGENCY PROCEDURES IN CASE OF EMERGENCY WHERE YOU NEED TO PICK-UP YOUR CHILD: „« Come to the main office and give the office staff your name and remain in the lobby „« Office personnel will contact your child¡¦s homeroom and have the child come to the office „« Emergency numbers which you have provided will be used to make contact IN CASE OF A LOCK DOWN (Biological or Chemical incident)) ALSO SHELTER IN PLACE„« No one would be permitted to enter or exit the building as opening doors could jeopardize the safety of the students and school personnel „« Pick-up would take place when the local authorities determine the area to be safe SHOULD THE NATURE OF THE CRISIS BE SUCH THAT THE CHILDREN WOULD NEED TO BE MOVED FROM OUR SCHOOL TO ANOTHER FACILTY, PLEASE LISTEN TO THE RADIO/WATCH TV TO LEARN DETAILS. PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE WITH COMLEY SCHOOL AND OTHER NEARBY HIGH SCHOOLS. THE ONE TO BE USED WOULD BE DETERMINED BY THE TYPE OF CRISIS TAKING PLACE. Questions and comments may be addressed by note, phone, or e-mail to either Mrs. Kilbride or Mrs. Tremper. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HARCOURT MATH is our Math program in Kindergarten through grade 4. Check out the Harcourt web site to see some great activities for your child to try. (Go to http://www.harcourt.com then click on Math, etc.) If you are asked for a password, just type in one of the author's name from your child's Math book. So far the teachers and the students are enjoying the new books and supplementary materials. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~October is Fire Prevention Month. My Dad was a Fire Chief by profession, so this week is always a special one to me- because it is to him. Following are a few good tips to go over with your children. FIRE PREVENTION WEEK Here are some of the ABC's of fire safety: Know how many smoke detectors are in your home Have a fire escape plan and practice it often Know two ways out of every room in your home STOP, DROP, and ROLL if your clothes catch fire Matches are NOT toys Learn how to dial 911 to report a fire Crawl low UNDER smoke to get out in a fire Keep away from hot things that can burn you Unplug small appliances when not in use, and, Visit a fire station to learn how firefighters HELP YOU!!!!
