Reading

Congratulations to the children in Room 3. You have read 100 books and now
100 books will be donated in your honor to the children affected by
Hurricane Katrina. We are listed in the "ClassroomsCare Readers' Hall of
Fame" on the ClassroomsCare Web site.(www.scholastic.com/classroomscare)

The children should continue reading independently for at least 10
minutes each night. They have library once per week. Encourage your child
to take out a book that will catch and hold their interest.

The "Book-It" challenge for the month of January is continuing for Pizza
Hut. This program motivates children to read by rewarding them for their
reading accomplishments. Please do all in your power to encourage your child
to read. This is the foundation for all future knowledge. If they don't
enjoy reading, they will struggle with studies throughout their life.

Find their level of interest and pursue it with books, be it sports,
mystery, fairy tales...etc.

The 500 Ticket Book Challenge will begin in April. The children have
participated in this activity in previous years and when we reached our goal
they celebrated with a fun activity. More information will be sent home in
late March.
