Do I have to get my homework signed every night?

Yes. You not only have to have your cobybook signed each night but your
math paper or math copybook as well. If we have other papers, like English
Grammar or Reading, you also must have those checked and signed as well.

What if I forget my library book or something like that?

No one is to bring it in for you. You may bring it in the next day. The
projects will be due on their due dates. If late, they will have a
grade subtracted from their original mark. No parent is to bring in a
project after school starts that day.

Can I bring in a snack for the class if it is my birthday?

Munchkins are okay to send in for student birthdays. On holidays, please
check with me and have my okay before sending in any food snack. Children
these days have more and more allergies that we need to take into
consideration and the teacher has the responsibility to see that these
health considerations are respected and addressed. Peanut allergies as well
as milk allergies, etc. are among the things we need to be serious about. I
thank you in advance for your cooperation about this serious matter. There
are other ways to celebrate as well as food.

May parents stop by in the classroom if they are in the building?

No. You need to check in at the office if you would like to drop in.
No. It's not a good idea to interrupt class. Interruptions rob us of the
teaching moment. To cause the children to lose focus unnecessarily is a
wasted opportunity. It is harder for some children to remain focused than
others. The secretary will use the intercom to contact me if it is important.

What if I need to contact the teacher about a concern or a problem?

Just write a note. I will get back to you that day or the next. If you
would like me to call, just put that in the message. I'd be glad to
talk to you about any problem.

May a child bring in Munchkins or another snack to celebrate his/her birthday?

Yes, of course. No need to ask ahead of time. Only a frozen treat or
something that needs utensils to serve would require previous notice to the
teacher.
