About The Teacher

Welcome to our room class of 2009-2010...before you know it we'll be bacl
in school learning lots of great new things! Be sure to check out the other
places on our class site for information!

We are lucky to have two teachers in our classroom. You will find
out lots more about us during the school year, but here is a brief
intro to help you get acquainted.

 About Mrs. Boylan...
I have been a teacher for 27 years. Twenty-three of those years have
been spent in 1st grade at St. Ignatius. I love everything about
1st grade. Sharing my Faith with the children is the most rewarding part of
my "job". Reading is an exciting subject to teach. We will share
hundreds of stories throughout our year together. The best part is
empowering the children to read and write their own stories! I love to
draw, and will share my artwork with the children, and encourage them to
become illustrators themselves. I love visiting my main mouse, Mickey, at
DisneyWorld.
    We have four children: Michael-31, Chris,-30, Sarah-29 and Becca-27.
I also have two adorable new granddaughters -Molly ( 15 months old) and
Caroline(14 months old)! You'll get to see pictures of them in school.

 About Mrs. Emkey
This will be my 11th year as an assistant teacher in first
grade.
I really do love first grade as much as Mrs. Boylan. There is a
special magic in being able to help children enter the world of the
printed word. It is so amazing to watch how quickly they learn to
put together sounds and read words. They grow in so many areas during
this special year.
Many years ago, I taught first grade in Haddonfield, New
Jersey. I have three children. My son, Matthew is a student and plays in a
band. My daughters, Kristin and Meredith, live and work locally. We like
going to the beach together, reading, and shopping. On May 12,2007, my
grandson,TJ,was born. He is keeping us busy and making me a proud
grandmother.

Mission For The Class

Love one another...as Jesus loves us! It's a life goal...and we
work on it actively ...each day!
We instill in our students a love of reading. It is also our goal to teach
our students good organizational skills upon which they can build. We
challenge them daily to be their best.
We do believe that "listeners are learners " and "readers are
leaders." These phrases are our class motto.

Books will open the door to exploring the world we live in. They take you
on trips through your mind's eye...without having to even leave your seat.
We will make learning fun through activities that are challenging, creative
and educational.
No two days are ever the same...I suppose that's what makes it so much
fun to come to school each day!

We learn for life...not just for school!
