Week of 9-13 Nov 2009.
IN CLASS WORK AND HOMEWORK ARE POSTED TOGETHER SO YOU KNOW WHAT WE DID IN
CLASS AND WHAT HOMEWORK WAS ASSIGNED. IF YOU ARE OUT, YOU SHOULD KEEP UP WITH
THE WORK YOU MISSED AND THE HOMEWORK.
FOR 7TH AND 8TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES: The procedure for doing chapter work is
standard all year. When chapters and sections are assigned, you will read the
section and complete the guided reading worksheets that I hand out at the
beginning of each chapter. The second part of your homework is to take the
terms at the end of each section (always question 1 of the section
assessment) and define them in your copybooks. Label each section and chapter
so you know where to study before a test. I will check this at the end of
each marking period. Please be complete in your answers and use the
definition as presented in the section you are reading. Do not use the
glossary at the end of the book. You must know the context in which the terms
are used in the chapter. I will be giving periodic quizzes, some announced,
some unannounced. If you do your homework, you should not have any problem.
7th Grade: Remember- you will always have to complete the guided rdg wksheet
and terms for each section assigned for homework. Please complete the
following assignments nightly regardless if I finish reviewing a particular
section in class. It is better for you to be slightly ahead of me so you can
participate in class discussion. Expect quizzes both announced and
unannounced this week. If you do your homework, you should not have any
problems.
Mon-Review in class sec 1 ch 19 assigned Friday in class. HW is sec 2 p. 552-
556 for Tue. Test on Wed for these 2 sections. NO REVIEW. You should able to
study 2 sections for a test. I will have a study session after school on
Tuesday if you think you need it (245-330.)
Tue- Review sec 2, Study for sec 1,2 test on Wed. Homework is sec 3 p. 560-
563 for Thur and sec 4 p. 564-567 for Friday. Test next week on sec 3,4..
Wed- In class, test sec 1,2 of ch 19.
Thu- Rev sec 3, ch 19.
Fri- Rev sec 4, ch 19.

EXPECT A QUIZ AFTER SEC 3 AND 4
Mon--finish sec 2. Begin sec 3. You should have these done, they were
assigned for last week. HW is sec 4 p. 160-165 for Tuesday. This was assigned
for today last Thursday.
Tues: Discuss sec 3 in class.
Wed- and Thur Discuss sec 4 in class.
Fri- Finish out chapter 6.
Religion: YOU WILL RARELY GET HOMEWORK UNLESS IT IS PART OF MINI PROJECT
ASSIGNED IN CLASS.
Mon- TEST CH 6 ON ABRAHAM
Tue- Fr. Cletus comes.
Thu- Fri: We will do pp. 47-52 in class.
Reading and Spelling:
SPELLING:
For Wed, have spelling wkbk pages pp52-55 for lesson 10 completed. Sentences
for words are NOT due on Thursday. Instead you will be writing a 2 para
essay using 10 spelling words from lesson 10 and 5 vocab words from "Storm A
Dust" that will be due on Thursday. I will give instructions on Monday.
Regular Spelling Test is on Friday.
READING: Always have a book for sustained silent reading (SSR) available. You
must read at least 3 short books about 100-200 pages and take an accelerated
reader on line test this quarter. These will count as a grade. Time will be
given in class to take a short book quiz on each book you read. If there is
no on line test for the book you read, you will complete a short written book
summary/report.
Mon: I will give a spelling pre test and then assign a writing assignment for
Thur. I will give you time to put a draft together in class. The rest you
will finish on your own time. You must turn in your draft with your final
essay. Illustration will be req'd. Lengt is 2 good para or 1 page looseleaf.
Hand written. Heading with all vocab and spelling words underlined in red.
Tue: Read "Storm A Dust."
Wed: Finish story, do skills pg 73, take selection test.
Thur: Turn in the essay assigned on Monday. Complete sk pp 79/80. Review
answers. SSR, study for spelling test.
Friday- after spelling test, complete skills pages 81-82 and put vocab words
and challenge words in copybk as usual.
