We have had a couple of very big weeks.
We had a wonderful trip to Weaver's Orchard this past Thursday. It was muddy, but a very fun day for all! We got to taste apple cider, go on a hay ride, see how the apples grow and play in the hay house.
We had a fun Halloween Party on Friday. We got to dress like our favorite thing and Parade in the parking lot. We had lots of fun at our party. Thanks to our Homeroom Moms for such a fun day and thanks to those who donated snacks/supplies!
We had our first Mass yesterday (All Souls Day). We will go to Mass next on Wed 11/18.

Since the Walk-a-thon was cancelled, we will be walking this Thursday, 10/22 during the school day around the school neighborhood. A letter will be sent home today. It would be best for the children to wear sneakers and they may wear their Walk-a-thon shirt if they have one.
10/1
Please be advised that as of tomorrow (10/2) if the children come to school with no coat they will not be permitted to go outside for recess. It is too cold for the children to be outside without coats. Thank you.

We have a new student in our class. We welcome Brooke Redner to K-B. Brooke is an all day student and we are all getting to know her!
We went to an assembly on Monday about bullying. We learned what bullying is and that it is wrong to bully others. We also learned how to handle a situation if we or somebody we know is being bulllied.
Tomorrow begins October. We will have a Halloween Party on Friday 10/30 and all children are encouraged to dress up. We will send a letter home with more specifics. If a homeroom mom contacts you for help and/or donations, please be generous with your time and/or help to make this a memorable party for the kids. It will be a fun time!

We will be going to the Book Fair tomorrow to Preview books. Your child will come home with a Wish List of books that they liked. You are not obligated to buy any or all of the books. Indicate on the Wish List what you will allow your child to buy, and send money or check for that amount. We will be buying books onWed.

We have had another busy week. In case you haven't heard Mrs. Towle is out for about 6 weeks, after having surgery. We are sending her prayers, cards and well wishes. Mrs. Young is in for Mrs. Towle and doing a beautiful job of standing in for her.
We had 2 assemblies this week. Yesterday we had a Walk-a-thon explaining the Walk-a-thon to the children. As you know, the 10 letters came home. If you fill them out and return them by Monday, your child will recieve a free walk-a-thon tee shirt and a free ice cream treat.
The second assembly was today and it was a Laser Show. TONS of fun for the kids - and educational too. Ask them about it!!
We started using our behavior chart this week. Be sure to ask to see your child's sticker for good behavior so you know what kind of day they had.
The K4J kits went home yesterday. Sorry they were so late -we only just received them! Please have your child fill in days 18 through 31, and return it to school, when filled in.

WOW!! We have had a BUSY couple of weeks! But we are beginning to settle into a routine. We are learning the rules quickly and making lots of new friends.
We have painted and learned our colors. The painted creations are coming home today.
We are learning rhyming words and to sort. We already know the days of the week and the months are coming along.
We can pledge to the flag and say our monrng prayer!
The all day children have learned lunch time and recess routine. They have also had Music class with Mrs. Behler and Art class with Mrs. Brown (today). Tomorrow we will have our first Gym class and Monday will be Library and Comuter.
We are very excited about our Grandparent's Day celebration tomorrow!
Remember that next week we ask that you allow your child to walk to the classroom by themselves (if they don't already) Many of our children can do this independently and we should all be working toward independence in this area. They know the way and can do it by now. Also for those reluctant children, it is easier to make the break at the front door rather than in the classroom.
Thanks for your help!
We just had our first K4J Assembly this afternoon and it was great fun!! Our mission this month is Order and our Holy Hero is Moses. Ask your child to sing the K4J song to you!
I just got word that we will be having an automated call system to inform you of snow days, so you will get a call as soon as it is determined that school will be closed due to snow. If you have more than one child in school, you will only get one call :-)
