Report Cards-- Please sign and return the ENVELOPE to school ASAP. You
keep the report card.
Grading-- Every teacher assigns grades differently. If your child MEETS
my expectations they receive an S. That means they are doing what is expected
of them. If your child receives a minus in something that means he or she
might be weak in that area. For example,punctuation and capitalization are
issues for some students. When they are writing sentences for stories in
class or on a Spelling test,they do not remember to begin with a capital
letter or they forget the period at the end of a sentence. That means they
have a weakness in this area. Some students do not take their time when we
copy Spelling words(daily) or write in our Journals. Those are used for
handwriting grades(As is the reading cpybk.). These are areas that some
students need to work on. Some students have recently improved in some areas.
Remember the quarter was 47 school days long. ALL the work and behavior was
taken into consideration.
Wednesday Mass---If your child has a reading part,PLEASE have your child
practice reading it VERY slowly and distinctly. Make sure that he or she
READS it from the paper. If it is memorized and a child loses the place, he
or she sometimes will panic. It is best that your child READS the words on
the paper SLOWLY. Thanks!!!
A few reminders ...
ALL tests need to be signed and RETURNED to school. As I was cleaning out
the first quarter tests from my test file I noticed a few students have
stopped returning tests. PLEASE sign and return ALL tests. Thanks!
Author Visit
Gene Barretta will be visiting our school on Tuesday,November 17. His
visit is being funded by the Home and School Association.
There will be a meeting for parents of second graders receiving the
Sacrament of Reconciliation(Penance) this year, next Sunday evening (11/15).
It will be in the school hall. Registration begins at 6:45.
PLEASE do not send invitations in to school to be passed out by your
child. I have always had that policy. Invitations need to be MAILED. There is
nothing more distressing to a child to see others receiving an invitation
when there is not one for him or her. Even if you are inviting the entire
class,one still manages to get lost or misplaced and feelings are crushed.
*****PLease check the News Flash if you are not sure when your child has Gym.
We have had a few people without gym uniforms the past two weeks. Thanks!

I put our Spelling words on a website called www.spellingcity.com.
Go on the site and click find a list. If you type in kwilliams2 and click
username above the search box you should get to the site. It might be a fun
way to study. There are games and word searches you can do to help you
study.
