12/15/09
We had computer class and library class. Please bring your book to school the
day you return, so you can return or renew it.
Religion: We reviewed quickly the stories of forgiveness on book pp.153-155.
We read, discussed, and completed pp.156 & 157.
Math: We started working on our project. Using a worksheet, we wrote out a
check for $100.00 and wrote down the names of the people in our family.
Then, using the sales circulars, we "shopped" for a Christmas present
to buy for everyone in our family. You can not go over your budget and
if you are under your budget, you can use the leftover money to "buy"
yourself a small gift. When we found an item we wanted to buy for
someone, we cut out the item with its description and price. We put all
of our gifts in an envelope and put the envelope in our file. The
project will be completed and turned in on Thursday for a grade.
Reading: We did some free reading and listened to the first half of the story
"Coal Country Christmas".
English: We finished brainstorming for our letter to Santa. The 2nd paragraph
is about My Wants/Wishes and the 3rd paragraph is about My
Wishes/Questions for Santa. Then we set up the rough draft paper and
started working on the rough draft. The rough draft is due on
Thursday. The 2nd paragraph of the rough draft should not include
all of your brainstorming ideas. Nor should it be one long list. It
is to be a paragraph mentioning 2 or 3 want/wishes and it should
follow the rules for a paragraph.
Example:
Santa I hope your bag has enough room in it for the two things I wish
for. Last year, you brought me a set of Magic Treehouse books. I liked
reading them, especially "Day of the Dinosaurs". I would love to have some
more books to enjoy. I also really love to ride my bicycle, but my old bike
was too small, so I gave it to Mary's Shelter for the children there to ride.
I was hoping you would bring me a bike that was just my size. Those are my
wishes for this year.

Religion: Today we received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. You should try
to receive this sacrament before Christmas.
Reading: We read and acted out stories of forgiveness from the religion book
pp.153-155. We discussed the main ideas in each story.
Please read and discuss them with a grown-up at home.
English: We finished the rough draft of the Haiku poem we started last week.
The paper should be in your writing copybook with the notes about a
Haiku poem. Please use your notes and your brainstorming to complete
your rough draft.
We also started the brainstorming for a letter to Santa. This can be
started when you return.
Social Studies: The compass rose was collected to be graded. Have yours ready
to turn in when you return.
