St. John Chrysostom School

Dear C.A.R.E.S Parents,

The Children Are Receiving Extended Services Program for students in Kindergarten through sixth grade will commence on Monday, September 14, 2009. The program operates on regular school days from 2:45 pm until 6:00 pm. In the past, CARES was held in the Primary Unit/Lower Church hall, but this year again, it is going to take place in the main building of the school. This offers more space for the students and access to the computer room, library, and gym. When you come to pick up your child/children, please go to the side doors, located next to the gym, in the main building. This door is locked so you will have to ring the CARES doorbell that is located on the wall.

Mrs. Mindy Battista (Goryl), St. John’s Fifth Grade teacher, and Mrs. Jackie McKenzie (Pierangeli), St. John’s Third Grade teacher, will be the teachers for the program.

The primary purpose of the St. John’s CARES program is to provide an after school experience in a safe and caring environment for the young children of working parents. During the first hour of the program, the children will complete homework assignments with assistance provided when necessary. This will be done in either teachers rooms. Following the completion of homework, an opportunity for outdoor play and exercise is gives. Games, puzzles, computers, crafts, and other materials will be used to enrich and supplement the CARES program. A daily snack is provided for the children.

Please take a few minutes to print out and fill out the forms below. Please be sure to list anyone who is authorized to pick up your child/children throughout the year and if more space is needed, attach another page. Your child will not be released to anyone who is not listed unless you give notice via phone or a note.

Please be sure to inform your child’s teacher in writing when he/she will be attending C.A.R.E.S. You may also call the school office if plans change and they will inform the teacher in charge for that day.

A $25.00 registration fee is required to have your child/children participate in CARES.

Payments for the program are to be made on a weekly basis and given directly to

Miss Goryl or Mrs. McKenzie.

Checks should be made payable to St. John Chrysostom School and the fees for the program are as follows:

FULL TIME: 2:45 - 6:00 PM - five days/week

• One Child $71 per week
• Two Children $107 per week
• Three or More Children per family $121 per week

PART TIME: A few hours/few days per week

• One Child $8.50 per hour
• Two children $12.50 per hour
• Three or More Children per family $15.00 per hour

Hours are:

3:00-4:00, 4:00-5:00, 5:00-5:30, 5:30-6:00.
