Physics I Physics I is a Freshmen course which presents the topics of matter, heat, sound, light, electricity and magnetism in preparation for future science courses of Chemistry, Biology and Physics II. The text used is Conceptual Physics which presents a three-step learning sequence of exploration, concept development and application. Hands-on activities are important to an understanding of the concepts and are presented in a laboratory class at least once a week but more likely two times a week. Physics II Physics II is a one semester Senior course which takes an investigative approach to the study of mechanics using algebra and trigonometry. The inquiry method of instruction is used to develop critical and analytical thinking skills through laboratory experiences using observation, analysis and problem solving. Physics is understood as a tool to transfer these skills to similar problems and situations in future science courses and the real world throughout their lives. Chemistry Chemistry is a Sophomore course that investigates the macroscopic and submicroscopic composition and behavior of matter. The basic concepts of chemistry are presented with the conceptual method to help students visualize how the behavior of atoms and molecules explain the macroscopic environment in their daily lives.
