USEFUL LINKS

ONLINE TEXTBOOK SIGN-IN

This site takes you to the Holt website that will allow students who are using the Algebra 2 textbook to access their books online, as well as, activties associated with those courses.

GRAPH 4. 3

This site connects you to the location where Graph 4.3 can be downloaded. This is a FREE program that has many of the features that graphing calculators have. The nice part of using this program is that you can print your graphs for reports, papers, etc. (this program only runs on WINDOWS computers)

GEOGEBRA

This is a FREE program that has function graphing and geometry features. It has many of the same features as Geometer Skectchpad (which is a program that you must pay to have). I will be using this program to create applets that can be viewed over the web, there are sometimes issues viewing them properly. Therefore, students may want to download this application to open the Geogebra files (.ggb) locally. [This program is available for both MAC and WINDOWS computers.]

JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT

Whether or not you use Geogebra directly or use an applet created by it, you will need to have the Java Runtime Environment installed on your computer. Also, most of the virtual manipulatives found on the pages below make use of Java applets. You can download the program from this site. Again, this program is FREE.

NATIONAL LIBRARY OF VIRTUAL MANIPULATIVES

This website has a collection of virtual manipulatives that can be used to investigate many topics in mathematics.

DAVID YOUNG'S WEBSITE

This website was created by the teacher who instructed the Enhancing Mathematics Education with Technology course that I took this last summer. He has Applets, Excel Worksheets, PowerPoint presentations, and other activities posted here that would be useful to both teachers and students.

 TEXAS INSTRUMENTS EDUCATION HOMEPAGE

This link connects you to the Texas Instrument website. This site has programs and applications for your TI graphing calculators (although a TI Connect Link and software are needed to upload those applications to your calculator).

MICROSOFT OFFICE VIEWERS

You say you don't have Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Excel? You would like to be able to download the documents and files that I have created but do not want to spend a good deal of money on those programs? Well, you do not have to. The links below will take you to the download sites for the Viewer programs that allow you to view these files without owning Microsoft Office. The best part, these programs are free.

MICROSOFT WORD VIEWER

MICROSOFT EXCEL VIEWER*

MICROSOFT POWERPOINT VIEWER

*I am not sure if the Excel files will work as planned with the Excel Viewer as it only allows limited editing of the spreadsheets.

ADOBE ACROBAT READER

I have produced most of the documents (portfolio projects, labs, course descriptions, etc.) that are available via this webpage in PDF format. In order to view them you must have a program that reads that format. The most widely used one is Adobe Acrobat. The link on the left is the site to download the latest version of the Acrobat Reader, which is a free program that allows you to read (not edit) these files.

MR. SORRENTINO'S SCHOOL BLOG SPACE

The old discussion board site had syopped working. This site has both a discussion board and blog space that I will start using this year (2008-2009). I will direct you in class when you should enter this site. [This site seems to work best when using Internet Explorer. Other browsers may require you to click RELOAD at times.]
