PI DAY

The celebration is trypically held on March 14 which is a Saturday. In order to allow all math classes to celebrate and due to my schedule, we will be holding it at SJHS on March 11, 2009.

PI DAY ACTIVITIES:

OK, for this year’s Pi Day, we’re planning some great activities, but you the students have got to help out. Here is a list of the activities and what you can do to help (or need to participate):

1.  Pi Contest: See who can memorize the most digits of Pi (no cheating or using a calculator.)

*************************************************************************************************

2.   Pie Tasting Contest: For this contest, you must have at least 2 people per math class participate. Make enough pie for each person in the class to have a slice, and at the end Mr. Klanica will take a bite of each pie and decide on the best pie of the school.

*************************************************************************************************

3.   Video: See Brittany Lambermont for details. (Homeroom #203)

*************************************************************************************************

4.  Stump Mr. Sorrentino: Let’s see who can come up with the hardest math problem involving Pi to stump Mr. Sorrentino. Submissions must be made the day of the Pi Day celebrations, and the hardest problems will be posted with solutions in the Pi Day Times.

*************************************************************************************************

5.  Poster Contest: Posters can be made representing Pi Day in any way (funny play on words, pictures, etc.) NO inappropriate language, pictures, jokes etc. Submissions must be run by Mr. Sorrentino first, just to make sure they’re ok for use.

PI DAY FOOD:

Please be sure to sign up on the sheets in your math classroom ragarding the food items you intend to bring on Pi Day. We need to know what will be available and to have an idea about how much will be needed to dispose of garbage at the end of the day.

PI DAY T-SHIRTS:

All orders for Pi Day T-Shirts are in and they have been ordered. They will be delivered to you in homeroom on March 11. You are permitted to wear your Pi Day T-Shirts with uniform bottoms on March 11.
